I tried Cashmere's method of creating liquid by soaking Drum handrollong tobacco in VG for 2 days. Pretty good flavour and hit but I would like to know if there is a way of removing the nicotine. I have seen in some posts that nicotine escapes imto the atmosphere easily. If I slightly heated the liquid would that remove the nicotine?

If it does and you're in the room, or when you enter the room, you're gonna be dead...

I surfed chemical and physics forums yesterday... mostly I got there from searches regarding various things concerning nicotine. Everytime a question appeared in one of their forums, there were a ton of posts about... don't and dead

Also, without chemical instrumentation, you would never know how much was there and how much was gone...

Yesterday, I was reading that the nicotine contained in just one analogue cigarette, if extracted, was humungous and lethal. Sorry, I can't post the links, I use an internet crap cleaner that deletes history and cookies.

BTW the body builders are mixing nicotine with some of their homemade rubbing solutions and they don't touch the tobacco products, they are getting their nicotine from the nicotine gum because they can sort-of know how much nicotine they are getting.

Perhaps you could post what is the strongest commercially available 0 nicotine tobacco flavor, and then if economizing, just cut it with the other non-nicotine components...

Wow I hardly believe that the nic in one cig can kill you the LD50 of nicotine is 1mg/kg that means that for a person of 60kg of weight 60mg of nicotine is needed to harm that person, one cig can't have 60mg of nic, they have no more than 2mg, you may say that it can kill due to the nicotine is pure after extraction, but the LD50 studies USE pure nicotine, extracting nicotine from one cig at most can give you 2mg of pure nicotine.

I found your stats at Death by nicotine patch - how? | Ask Metafilter

I wasn't at your link. I was at 2 Physics forums, 1 Chemistry forum, and 1 (for lack of a better description) steroid forum, and looking at the patents office. I think the 1 cigarette thing came from one of the physics forums...

Lithium1330, if you're into science, you might like this link:
Nicotine -- Kevin Bourzac

Also, though it's off the subject, because when I was googling I mis-typed and typed, "1nicotine", I found out I think it was back in the 80's some super strength tobacco plant was smuggled out of the USA and is now being grown somewhere in South America and being sold to England or re-sold back to the US. It was a long goofy story with many "players". (The nicotine was so strong that touching it was very, very hazzardous and called tobacco loco...which apparently is why the US put security on it or something like that... If you're interested, just type in 1Nicotine and it should be in the first 2 google pages. Ok, I just re-found that link:
Brazil's Secret: Crazy Tobacco

Sorry, I'm really tired tonight. Maybe, I'll try to find where I was at tomorrow...

you probably could through an acid/base extraction. However, it would destroy the original liquid (you wouldnt be able to smoke it as zero-nic juice). And, it might attract the attention of the police since that same process is used by .... labs. And, the resulting product would be hazardous because of the concentration of nicotine.

edit - wasnt sure if you wanted to extract and salvage the nicotine or remove the nic and save the juice for use. Looks like was the latter. Sorry.

Not sure if this would help but INCHEM has a lot of info about Nicotine. Activated charcoal is listed in their first aid section. Perhaps you could try a smal amount and add some activated charcoal.
Or, if my understanding is correct, from reading about it as a pesticide with a short life span, perhaps an aquarium airator in an open air environment ???

That's what I thought Kate. If i heated it (outside) shouldn't the nicotine leave and the flavour stay?
we are not talking about something with an existing high content, (I think soaking in glycerin is less effective than heating in water). Its not like I am experience nicotine rushes smoking it as is but I was interested in trying to identify a route to be sure of no nicotine.

In theory that sounds like it should work but I'm afraid this is something I know very little about so couldn't be sure. If I were you that's what I would try, boil for thirty minutes or so and it should hopefully give strong flavour without nicotine.

Don't forget that there are lots of other chemicals added to tobacco so it would be better if you could get organic, additive free stuff.

I googled different boiling points and this is what I found

Boiling point: Temperature at which a liquid turns into gas

boiling point of Water: 100 degrees C (212 degrees Farenheight)
boiling point of Nicotine: 247 degrees C (476.6 degrees Farenheight)
boiling point of propylene glycol:

(the boiling point depends on the %)
boiling point of glycerine (glycerol): 290 °C (554°F)

This might help for the future: Quest cigs have no nicotine
TB ...

i would cook my own, however, the only "NIC LESS" tobacco is that of quest cigarettes. If I found a pipe tobacco or canned that had no nicotine, I would cook it like you. These factories in china can get the tobacco flavor even in their ZERO nic carts. My question is how? and where do they get it? can't be an oil, and it doesn't contain nicotine ....

i don't want to buy expensive quest cigs just to tear apart and cook for the tobacco flavor.
