I traded a REO and ERA to someone who is very unhappy with it. He says there is a coffee flavor stuck in it that he can't get out. Both of them were cleaned in boiling water prior to shipping and vodka run through the tubing and bottle but there's a coffee vape flavor stuck in it. He's not sure if it's stuck in the ERA or the REO, but I don't want him stuck with a mod an atty that have an off putting flavor. Suggestions on how to get that out?

I haven't had mine long enough to need to clean any previous flavors out. Best suggestion this REO noob has is foot the bill to have him send it in to Rob for a rebuild? Might be overkill but the flavor would be gone........ unless it's in the ERA :(

Sorry to hear about this, it stinks (figuratively.. I love the scent of coffee :p)

I would start with a clean bottle. Sometimes the o-ring can absorb stuff. Based on what I have read, what you did to the tubing should have worked. But if not, change the tubing along with the bottle. I would also have them try to use a plain atomizer to see if the flavor is in the ERA or the REO. If it is in the ERA, I have no idea.

And change the o-rings on the bottle if he plans to re-use it. HRH uses coffee in some of her Reos and as far as i can tell - swapping out o-rings will work along with boiling water for the bottle and although she only uses RM2s (mine!!) i doubt an Era would be much different. What i do to clean it out of them is to microwave a little bowl of water with detergent in it and then let the atty soak in it until the water is cool. Then rinse it all.

The flavor should be able to be cleaned out of the ERA without a problem. AT the least I would change the tube. The tube can stain with certain juices, the bottle not as easy. The bottle, cap, & oring usually can be cleaned but they're so cheap I would change them out too if I was trying to make someone happy.

I clean all my parts with an isopropyl soak (91 or 99%), then in an ultrasonic cleaner (mine is heated) with an 80/20 distilled water/isopropyl mix for 5-10mins. Take caution or don't use isopropyl if the ultrasonic cleaner has plastic parts (body & lid) like the inexpensive ones for jewelry

Just wash the Reo under water and do the same to the atty. Then soak the atty in vodka if washing it and the reo didnt help. If the alcohol doesn't help, just recoil it.

Hey haven't seen you in a while bro!

I wonder if pluid would wreck a Reo lol. Licorice for life.
