what's wrong with this thing? it doesnt like to opperate properly. i can get it to work if i play around with it, but i shouldnt have to. allot of times you will push the button and it will blink really fast while not producing any vapor. im not very happy with this replacement switch, the unit that is included with the epower is a much better switch. why is it that the original kit supplied switch has a soft button with a blue LED while the replacement is a hard plastic button with a white LED

Which E-Power model are you talking about?

Much has been posted regarding problems with the E-Power 14650 switch electronics that came on units sold from late November through early January. Some vendors sold those units later than that.

Problems affect E-Power 14650 equipped with the switch module with a white LED button. Contact your vendor for a replacement switch unit. Or, you can purchase a replacement switch module from Hoosier (when it's back in stock).

Here is a history of the switch modules on E-Power 14650. The power button lights up with an LED. The different switch modules have different buttons, colors and function.

1. First run switch module. Soft plastic button, blue light. The soft plastic button could stick and was replaced with switch #2.

2. Soft plastic button was replaced mid-2011 with a hard plastic button, blue LED. This switch module was trouble-free, allowing use of as low as 1.5 ohm cartos and attys. This switch did not have a safety feature that disabled the switch for pocket carry.

3. Late November through January. Hard plastic button, white LED switch is introduced that includes a 5-click safety feature. Many of these switch modules were defective. They did not operate reliably with cartos or attys of less than 2.0 ohms, if at all.

4. The current E-Power 14650 switch module is introduced early in January, 2012. This switch works properly. Hard plastic button, blue LED, 5-click safety and works on cartos/attys of 1.5 ohms and above.

I have two E-Powers in use and another in new spare parts. All are equipped with switch #2

Where did you order the replacement switch from?

The soft button switch your reffering to is the original switch from when the E-Power first came out. That switch sucked and the rubber button would easily fall out. Thats why they then brought out a second switch and replaced the rubber button with a hard plastic button. That switch was great and worked really well. Then in November, like yzer said, Smoktech made a new switch that had a 5-click on/off feature and a white LED. They totally dropped the ball though bc for some reason they made it rated to use only 2.0ohm and up, which was stupid bc the older blue LED switches worked great with 1.5ohm and up.
Smoktech finally fixed the problem and released the new switch to fix the white LED screw-up about 2 weeks ago. The newest switch has a blue LED and is rated to use 1.5ohm and up like the old ones, but also has a 5-click on/off feature like the white LED switch had. The newest switch works great and is a lot better than the crappy white LED switch that Smoktech totally screwed up on.

Where did you buy the switch bc the white LED switch isnt the newest replacement switch. I would send it back immediately.
Hoosier Ecig Supply has the newest Blue LED switches for sale, but they just sold out of them 2 days ago like yzer said.
Crystal Clear vaping will have them for sale on the site this week. I talked to Andrew over the weekend and he said the shipment was expected to come in Tuesday or Wednesday. So they will be up on the site in the next few days and then you can order a replacement switch from there. CCV sells them for cheaper than Hoosier and has free shipping

i bought the white e-power switch from madvapes.com and i also bought my original epower kit from them. the original blue switch actaully still works and has held up fairly well except the longer i use it the less the button sticks out. i wanted a spare switch, but im not happy with this particular switch with the white LED, i wish it was the blue led style because i have had my original switch since october with no issues, i just want a good quality spare. how is madvapes with returns? i have purchased allot of my supplies from them and have been happy with everything except this mentioned switch. im using my e-power with dual coil smok-tech cartimozers that are supposed to be for the e-power

No, read my previOus comment. Smoktech dropped the ball and for some reason made the white LED switch only rated to use 2.0ohm and up. The older switches could use 1.5ohm and up, and the newest switch that replaces the white LED switch is rated to use 1.5ohm and up like the older switches.
That is why the white LED switch will work with the atty, but not the dual coil. The Epower dual coil is 1.5ohm, which is below the 2.0ohm the switch is rated for, so that's why it won't work. I've used one of the newest switches with the Epower dual coils and it works great.

Madvapes is generally pretty good with returns so I would think it wouldn't be an issue. But if for some reason they give you crap about it, just tell them that the switch you got is not what you ordered and then they'll have to let you return it. If you look on their site, the description for the switch says manual switch with Blue LED. Obviously they just forgot to change it when they started selling the white LED switch instead, but regardless, that is def grounds that they have to let you return it bc what they sent you is different than what you thought you ordered.
I don't think youll have to say any of that, but keep it in mind if they give you crap.

Then once you return it you can order the newest switch which is alot better and will work great with the Epower dual coils and you'll be able to turn the unit on and off too which is nice.
I would guess CCV will have it available first since they are supposedly getting the shipment in a day or 2. Since Hoosier just sold out of them, I would guess they won't have them for alittle since Brent will have to place another order and wait for them to come in from China, but I haven't talked to him about the second shipment so I'm not sure if he placed the order already or not.
