Ok, I just installed 2 of the 5 new T3 replacement heads from the new batch I ordered.

There is a distinct metallic burnt taste that has not been present on the previous heads.

Has anyone else had this same thing happen? Do I need to clean them with Vodka soak before using?

Also, they still puke liquid onto the top of my battery post.:( Although I have not had that problem with the T3 mini.

It appeared that lots of people looked but no one responded.

Nope, haven't had the metallic taste on any replacement heads. I would reserve vodka soaks for aggressive cleaning personally. You can find that really hot tap water (either soak it in a cup or just run it under for a few minutes) can do wonders.

It wouldn't surprise me that there would be a metallic taste though, these things are machined in conditions that are likely neither food safe environments or pharmaceutical safe environment so if not cleaned off in the manufacturing facility, you could have some left-overs on your gear.

I did have one head that drained out on my battery but that was the only one (a T3, not a mini) but I changed the head and it worked fine.

Funny story though.....I cleaned everything and forgot which one it was so now it is somewhere in my rotation waiting to surprise me again.

I would definitely clean anything you are gonna use. for the reasons the other poster said and for the leaking one you just need to add a little more wick to it. Here is a link that helped me a lot from gurgling and leaking.
How To: Fix your leaking Kanger T3! - YouTube

I tried adding one more strand of wick and it still leaks.:( I am using these till they are empty and then will put them on the SI PIF thread, but thanks anyway.

I will do a quick vodka soak on the new heads before I install them, that should take off any residual oils etc. Thanks!

Update: I took a new T3 head and did a 5 hour vodka soak folloewd by a hot water rinse and overnight air dry. No More Foul Taste!
