Representative Tom Cole (R-Ok) H.R. 2058 bill is gaining political support for vaping

Vapers calling on politicians: Have common sense on vaping products: support this bill

Representative Tom Cole (R-OK) assigned "H.R. 2058" last April to a congressional committee to "amend the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act", which would change the date to exclude vaping products "deemed tobacco products" in the "Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act of 2009" (FSPTCA). As it stands, product(s) "made or derived from tobacco" and "on the market before February 15, 2007" are already exempt and "grandfathered" under the act. Vaping products were not readily available before the arbitrary date, pharmaceutical products like the patch and gum were available well before the date set in the FSPCTA and would not be subject to tax or regulation.

No taxes are generally left upto individual states where tobacco taxes fund health care costs(cough cough or someone's lined pocket?!). The city of Chicago((Windy City) however decided to impose their own tax there while places like San Franciso have placed bans on vaping in public. And now NYC is looking repealing the bans on smoking in state parks!

The NY State Supreme Court would! and is located in NYC as well as in Albany the state capital. As the article was pointing out it wasn't even the State house of NY that put the policy in effect but the Park commission. Smoke-Free Parks and Beaches : NYC Parks

And then you have Utah looking to cash in with a whopping sales tax of some 85.5%! That is also having a debate as HB 333 is considered unfair and would put vape shops out of busines. Quebec, Canada is another place.

Speaking of partisans you'll love this one! Vaping in Congress! :w00t:
Congressman busts out vaporizer during e-cigarette hearing

Think that was good here's that report I had to relocate on the proposed by Utah law makers 86.5% sales tax on ecigs! And supposedly supporting "health care programs" or Big Pharma's hand in the cookie jar as usual! And then the same old Bull crud argument about not wanting kids to see ecigs as the gateway to smoking?!

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) Taxes on electronic cigarettes could jump in Utah to help pay for health care programs that Utah lawmakers are considering.

Two different proposals in the Legislature this year would each add an 86.5 percent tax to e-cigarettes so they're taxed like tobacco products.

Clearfield Republican Rep. Paul Ray says he hopes the tax will keep kids from using the devices.

Well I'm certainly rooting for you being in your corner with the "not going back" part! I've been trying to get some friends who starting rolling pipe tobacco to cost on recent state tobacco taxes that saw a $74 at wholesale club price raise the average pack price upto $10! They now have been buying this cheap pipe tobacco replacement despite having been handed out Bloog starter kits and later some eGo variable batteries with Smoktech Tumber tanks while first getting into vaping here.

One or two of them made some noise about thinking of quitting which never came about! Now one of them has been watching documentaries on the damages to health seen and has been "reminded" once again as I was showing that person some of the latest gear ordered! While many may be stressing over the raising costs of health care think about the "costs to health" being far greater over time as a continued reason to completely purge tobacco consumption period! This is now your "Golden Opportunity" while the incentive is present to motivate you!

And don't worry about how much nic is in any ejuice! Even at the 36mg the absorption level from vapor isn't even noticeable except for how it effects the particular flavor! The vape is warmer when nic is present as well since there is less flavoring. And as far as simply getting nicotine eat more Nightshade type plants like fresh tomatoes, potatoes, green peppers, Paprika, eggplant, etc. since nic is the natural defense against .... insects not people! :D

Thanks for the reply! I am in South Dakota and our tax is pretty small on the vape stuff. A little upset that i JUST get into it and see that if these FDA regs go through it could be the end aside from the actual tobacco companies putting out vape stuff. 5 days isnt a long time, but I feel better.. I can start to smell stuff again..which is new haha. Vaping was an amazing transition and I would love to stay with it.. i feel like its literally saving my life almost.

side note on BT pushing out vapes.. their cigalikes on the market taste like crap.. think id rather have a cigarette than those.. lol

Well as for the general concensus on cig alikes I think you will find most are not so good! But when you are totally new and haven't been looking into things or simply vaped for a period of time you won't always find what works overnight anyways!

My initial interests well before even knowing just what an ecig was but hearing the term without any actual information available was at first looking for a non smoke alternate when I was around non smokers. Once I got into conversations with a friend and former supervisor at another site I admin over was monitoring his pulse rates trying to quit a 4 pack a day habit! we got into discussions that eventually lead to him starting up his own ejuice family run not commercially produced business where I was sampling each new flavor while he was first starting out. That has since become one of the top 10 in the US!

Six months after that first disposable already long time from the initial 3 packs a night working long hours with long breaks when first lighting up after finding menthol smoke did more to relieve severe allergies then Big Pharma ever could! I found myself simply down under a pack a day by Fall 2012!

KISS ALL THAT GOOD BYE.......!!! Despite the last full carton and the initial full month of vaping to follow to study the initial effects first hand as well as the continual tightness and congestion felt in the chest that burnt metal exhaust pipe burning head spinning carbon monoxide side effect was gone! Five loose packs in May 2013 for the test saw the first .... almost knock me horizontal in contrast to previous ocassions when there were gaps over the 35+yrs.! I dusted those off FAST! Later at the June someone close suddenly took ill and I fell back into another 4 loose packs at first during early July and have been 100% smoke since mid July 2013! No going back now for anything!
