Repurposing my Sigelei Mini 30W

After approx. 2 months of average use my sigelei is forced into early retirement due to worn out threads in the .510 connection. They were gritty from day one and apparently the metal is pretty soft. It can't hold on to any of my atomizers anymore. It was nice while it lasted. ipv Mini v2 in the mail.

I use a SS steel 510/eGo adapter and a plinth on ALL my mods. This because the vast majority of them have the 510 threads made of zinc alloy and the floating pin made of re-cooked copper, a choice of materials driven by race to lower costs. Zinc alloy threads allows few thosands reciprocations before turning to dust. By using an adapter, you increase the useful life of a cheap mod many times. Fyi, next cheapest part is the micro-usb port, but that can be easily replaced with an high quality one -if you know how to use a soldering iron.

Well, I'm glad I read this, but also sad; I had in mind to get a sigelei 30w box for my next mod, my 1st box mod... but if the threads don't hold up, *sigh* Why didn't they make them stainless like the Zmax's? Those are tough! Mine's a year old, and the threads are just as perfect as day 1... well maybe better actually, since now they're wearing that conductive goop.. Noalox! That's the ticket. :D (just the tube threads, not the 510!)

So.. what low cost box mod has stainless threads?

2 months on mine and the threads are still fine. You have to be careful cause the floating 510 makes it easy to screw your atty in crooked. Just be careful, it'll be fine.

ROFL! Floating 510 eh... that seems to be the case with iTaste vv3s, too -- as in, sometimes when you put the atty on, the battery post has been pushed too far down, and you have to try and "pop" it upward again just so it works! :D

What I would really like to find is a black box mod that's either ALL black, or the metal bits are brass-toned... but so far all I've seen were black boxes with stainless/chrome metal bits. I know I've seen tube mods that were black and brass, but not having any luck so far finding a box mod like that.

A trick I learned at work when screwing in a down pipe into the bung of a 55 gallon drum of glue- which causes the pipe to bobble before it is screwed in, is the start out in reverse- turn left a few times. The threading will calibrate itself and be aligned when you tighten. Prevents cross threading every time...
