i was given a dead ego with a view to fix it.

ive taken it apart and it was just a loose connection on the postitive.
soldered this back and the switch flashes 3 times and lights when button is pressed but no current is being sent to the thread.
anyway as i desoldered and replaced the switch with a brand new one...and still no current is being sent, so i replaced the wire going from the pcb to the thread and ...guess what still no joy.
ive taking the middle connection out of the thread and the rubber that surrounds it has been a little comprimised(ie split) so am thinking this is what the problem is.
would this short the whole thing or could i just put some masking tape around it to stop it making contact with the ground?
has anyone any idea what the problem is?

im a real tight .... but do like fixing things a but am fully aware of a thing called a bin so dont need advice in how to dispose of it, how cheap these batteries are and how much im saving in regard to ananlogues thank you.

thanks
james

nah...i got an old riva connector and soldered that on.... basically the problem was my limited electronics experience since i didnt ground the battery before testing. ie didnt solder end cap to battery or put tube back on connector together.

i did this all the other night and it only worked with the carto i had connected whilst fixing. so dismantled put old(dead) switch in dismantled that and put new one and it worked.
these batteries r quite simple to fix but the cheap manufactring going inside them, wires and connections are so delicate i kept re soldering everything and then doing all again as s'thing else would break off. im happy i went to the trouble though as ive leant from my experience and have gotten satisfaction and reassurance of fixing a dead ego battery and this will stand me in good stride for making my vv mod(hopefully).
