There's still one section of the manual that came with my pipe which I can't quite decode. On the "Product Function and Usage" page, there's a section:

"Retrieval Operation Mode:
After a product has been used for 20 to 30 days, and with a new atonizing
alkaloid liquid is installed and battery fully charged,if it happens
that the atomizing quantity reduced evidently, please thke out the tobacco
alkaloid container.Use a metal object to connect screw with copper pillar.
Repeat this operation until the indicator ligth illuminates for ten to twenty
seconds.Afther founctions retrieved, the product can be used normally.
However, the operation should not be used frequently.
"

It's accompanied by a picture of a hand poking a screwdriver(?) into the gap between the battery and pipe bowl, but I'm not sure what this procedure is exactly for (or exactly how to do it.) Is this a procedure to run a cleaning cycle on the atomizer perhaps? Or is it to flatten the battery and remove any residual memory effect?
I guess the "copper pillar" refers to either of the brass clip/terminals that hold the lid on and connect the +ive battery terminal, but I can't find a "screw" (maybe they mean the -ive spring?) to short it to (and can't actually see how shorting it is going to allow the LED to light up anyway.)

Any ideas anyone?

Hi Nick - yes it is a cleaning cycle. What it's saying is remove the cartridge and the top cover - leaving the battery connected. If you look top down on the battery you'll see a little brass square next to the screw that hinges the battery arm. Using something metal, like a screwdriver, connect the brass square and the battery arm screw and hold for around 30 seconds. You'll hear loads of hissing and popping while it does it's thing.

Is this a mini-pipe or big pipe? The mini-pipe has the instructions for the big pipe and I don't think they apply. .Not sure about this as there are no threads in the bowl. they may be referring to where the atomizer screws on. connecting the outer threaded part to the inner pole or"pillar". This will short out the battery for sure. These li/ion batteries don't have a memory but do require draining to a certain point from time to time but if you go just a little to far you will not be able to recharge without a special charger (very expensive) so far i have had no issues with my pipe and think these instructions may have been intended for the pipes with the built-in atomizers.
This link- Charging lithium-ion batteries will tell you all about li/ion batteries. I think this procedure was like you said, the cleaning function, but for the other pipes with internal atomizer.

Thanks Scrub, You have cleared up the instruction issue for the mini pipe vs. the big pipe.
I was pretty sure they just put in the instructions for the big pipe with the mini's but now it's confirmed.

So if you have the big pipe with the internal atomizer you can use the method Scrub provided, and if you have the mini, don't do anything. It has the auto clean cycle after so many puffs.
