After reading the raves about this flavor, I just had to order a bottle of it with my mixing kit... and was surprised how intense it was! Frankly, the clove/spice was rather overwhelming to me. I liked it, but after a few hits that was enough! Then the clove persisted in my atty for some time (newbie, only had 2 atties from my starter kit to work with, had not yet learned about cleaning them). Took a lot of Pound Cake to work it out; but the blend was less annoying to me. I was so glad when I couldn't taste it lingering anymore.
I set the bottle aside for a while; having read how our tastes change over time, figured maybe I'd like it better later. I'd also read that aging a few days or weeks can change fresh juices somewhat.
Fast forward a couple of weeks. I had mixed up some Bavarian Creme (which I also wasn't crazy about at first)... after a week or so I tried that again, liked it much better. Then the inspiration struck. I dripped ONE drop of the Fried Spiced Apple on the atty, replaced my Bavarian cartridge... WONDERFUL! The persistence of the Fried SPICED Apple was totally smoothed out by the Bavarian Creme. Instead of seeming like an overspiced apple pie, it was sort of like an apple custard pie. And that really worked for me. (I make a killer apple crumb pie... so I definitely have an opinion in this flavor area, LOL.)
I have since enjoyed a cartridge of these two flavors mixed about 4 or 5 drops Bavarian to each drop of FS Apple. Thought it was just great that way - it seemed to somehow soften the spice while bringing out the apple.
So I share my experiment results in case someone else might like to try these blended variations. Especially if you don't care for it straight out of the bottle!
This is exactly the reason I got a DIY mixing kit. (The ones Dawn sells are the best-equipped by far - plus, I swear she's clairvoyant about the extras she likes to throw in!) You can adjust juices completely to your taste, which is almost impossible if all you have are premixes - no matter how wonderful the vendors' flavored juices may be, having a sufficient variety of them becomes expensive real fast, especially if you end up buying a flavor you don't like!
I intend to keep playing with this flavor and see what else I can do to it.
