As much as I can appreciate what JC has initiated in attempts the squash the issue ECF and its members have had since the beginning in regards to reviews and thread/post pouncing, I disagree with the process of having yet "another" area of review/experience out of the MAIN area of the forum.
I think a members efforts would be better spent and proactive by piloting campaigning initiatives towards regulatory bodies than coming up with workarounds for the board's/management's shortcomings (regardless of reasoning).
Why is it not possible to set up the review forum (both written & video), so that the thread is automatically LOCKED from replies upon completion. After all, its an individual's review and shouldn't be open for discussion or supplier/manufacturer support group (fanboy/girl), grandstanding.
What if:
- there was a set content ruling (along the lines of Angus's & JC's), and.....
- the thread auto closed (or locked out replying), upon the completion, but....
- there was an agree/disagree option that would tally anonymously and show within the thread/header.
I just feel its ridiculous to have the same intended function in more than one place in a forum as it just adds to the confusion and information search efforts of those starting out (as well as more seasoned users).
If this can't be done due to the limitations of vB software and its components, then why hasn't the CMS side of things been acted on more quickly since it was "suppose" to be so much better at handling issues such as this with its available "add on" features and versatility.
I can only imagine how intimidated and overwhelmed any new members are considering the fact that even I (who has been here through the growing stage for quite a while), now find the vast scattered effect of ECF quite frustrating simply by feeling and seeing it easily from within the member base as well as the new members.
Thank you for reading my suggestion with hopes that this is an area that can be resolved quickly and proactively by the powers that be.

Greg
