Like the title says, this is a friendly request for comment on my first build!

i'm on cloud 9 right now, this dripping deal is awesome... 10 or 11 wraps of 30awg @ 2.1 ohms and organic cotton. i'm loving it.
How can I make it better? techniques? silica vs cotton? anything, feel free.

Sounds like you are happy with what you have set up. Looks nice!!
I drilled out the air hole to 3.5mm (I believe they come with a 2mm?) and flavor improved, but almost too loose of a draw.
It's a give and take. Could be worth a try.?.

I feel like the draw is a bit tight for my taste... I come from carto tanks. how do you go about drilling it out? just by looking at it looks like I need one of those vertical drills with a press?

a bit less cotton perhaps - as a general rule if it forms "shoulders" either side of the coil there's too much. Cotton swells when wet and you have to allow for this when building wick and coil.

T

less length? or less density overall?

what effect does this have on flavor/vapor?

From my experience flavor is much, much better when the cotton easily slides through the coil and just overhangs about 1/4" on each side. You want the cotton to slide in without bunching - but fill the coil (too little doesn't work either). juice sitting in wet long wicks just seems to cook and weaken the flavor. You don't want to strangle the cotton in the coil!

+1 on the "less cotton" thought. It feels like you should cover the deck, but all that juice is just sitting there, getting boiled, which leads to less vapor & flavour, and quicker coil gunking.

Try less thickness plus less length - back it off until it's too little and then go back up a notch from there.

You'll be very surprised just how little it takes to get it tuned optimally. You're going to love it.

Yes!! I used a drill press and dont think I would have tried any other way. I like my fingers and wasn't going to risk a "handheld" method. :)
