Rice Method to dry after cleaning

Has anyone else tried using rice to dry your Atty's, Cartos, and other items out after cleaning? I have recommended this trick to many when dealing with electronics after they accidentally get wet. So, I used it after boiling my attys and cartos in water.
Here is what I did:
1. Boiled my items for 5 minutes as stated in many of the threads and videos I have seen here.
2. After removing the items from the water, I blew them out from the battery connector end.
3. I then poured a small cup of uncooked rice and buried the items in the cup under the rice.

I left them in there for a few hours and then removed them. Blew them out again and ensured that there were no grains inside any of the items.

The rice will absorb the water and everything was dry and working fine.

Thoughts?
