Yep, died at 57 today. He fought long and hard over his cancer. He lasted longer than I thought. Cheers Patrick. Beer for ya, a toast.

Actor Patrick Swayze Survives in Aircraft Accident
I was just thinking this morning that I hadn't seen anything about how he was doing recently. At least he's at peace now, it was so sad to see such a strong man wither away like he did.
I have a great Patrick Swayze story that I think would be fun to share now. When I was a senior in high school the fist half of North and South was on TV and I fell in love with watching him in it. Near the end of the school year a friend of mine told us he was going to be gone for a few weeks and after a lot of prying he told us his re-enactment group was going to be going to help film the 2nd half of North and South. He didn't tell many people because he didn't want to brag. On the off chance that he would get to meet Patrick Swayze I adked him to try to get his autograph for me. At some point during Kevin's time at the set he did run into him and he told him he had 3 girlfriends back home who all loved him (my French teacher and one other girl had also asked for autographs) and asked him if it would be possible to get 3 autographs from him. Of course he apologized for the imposition of asking for 3
. Patrick laughed and said that he was impressed that Kevin could deal with 3 girlfriends and would be glad to give him autographs for all 3. I wasn't sure whether to be more impressed with how nice he was about it, or that Kevin managed to come up with the story of having 3 girlfriends and tell it since he was terribly shy and I know he was terrified to approach someone he didn't know, especially someone famous.

My best friend moved to CA after high school and does a lot of background and set work. He told me on a couple of different occasions that Patrick was one of the nicest people he'd ever met out there. And to never call him 'Mr.' if I ever met him - he hated that apparently.

I just watched Roadhouse this weekend, for the umpteenth time....one of my all time favorite movies. May he rest in peace.
Wow, just wow.... guess we all knew it was coming, but sad and tough just the same. May he rest in peace and my prayers go out to his beautful wife.
