This is interesting. I got a Riva, which everyone says is the same as an eGo and I've been following the eGo advice. But, people keep saying the eGo is not a 3.7v device and puts out around 3.4v.

But, I have yet to read less than 3.6v on this, and freshly charged its reading 4.1v. The attys that come with it are reading 2.4 ohms. So, somewhere in the grey area of LR/Normal atty??

So, are they really the same? Different circuit or regulators? Does any of this really matter?

I'm just trying to make sense of the numbers I see all over the place. Any battery is going to show variance in voltage when comparing under load to no load. But, I see people referring to mods as true 3.7v. Even a 14500 battery will have a voltage variance under load and over time only be at true loaded 3.7v for a short period of time. The only way around this is to provide a regulated source that is well over potential load with a predictable load draw.

I guess these Riva and eGo batteries are current limited to not allow them to load up near battery voltage at all then.

I should probably just stop worrying about all this :)

All JoyE products use PWM (pulse width modulation) The circuitry will fire the batt at 3.0 - 3.7V in rapid succession (only picked up with an oscilloscope) and the duration of the cycles is also varied during the vape. It averages out to 3.2V under load, but an efficient 3.2V from start of battery life to the end of it's charge. OTOH those that claim their 3.7V devices run at 3.7V do so for X period of time and they would really be surprised of the numbers, if they were vaping through a test harness from start to finish.

I know this thread is pretty old, however I do want to mention that our Genuine Eastmall RiVa E-Cigarettes that are a true 3.7v device . I am not sure if any other RiVas made by anyone other than Eastmall are 3.7v but any vendor like us that carries genuine Eastmall Brand should have 3.7v RiVas also. I had the honor of having a wonderful member Cyberwolf here on ECF review and test the RiVa voltage underload and you can either read about his findings here on ECF or on VapingGuides.com
