I think I need to clean out the atty, which I did with some rubbing alcohol let it sit for a few hours then washed it out and blew it out. I guess I need to prime it perhaps but I am not exactly sure what the entails just drip some onto the bridge ? If so how much and how often do you need to clean these things. Also should the atty be getting really hot after say 5-6 vapes or is that a sign. Thank you in advance and also thank you guys for all you have done in the past. Also I am using VG so I know its thicker which I would assume would clog the atty quicker, right ?

I recently got my Riva, and both Attys that come with it were full of primer. I blew it out of there, wiped them down and started dripping juice onto the bridges to get rid of that taste. I didn't clean them with alcohol or anything like that. It took a little bit, but it will go away. 3-4 drops right onto the bridge is good to prime it. Then either continue dripping or load some carts on there and do a bit of puffing without inhaling to clear some out.

Yeah definitely blowing out first (with your mouth and just the atty, blow through it into a tissue). Then if I have time I do alcohol clean and dry (but with an edible clear sugarless alcohol like grain or vodka), else I put 3-4 drops of juice around the atty mesh bridge (all sides), wait a minute then vape that without inhaling (and if possible with a dummy empty cart instead of a real cart w/ stuffing).

Some may jump my .... about this, but I blow my atty's out, then I dry burn them while blowing through the battery/atty connection of my 510 for about 10 seconds. This so far has worked to rid the atty's of the primer taste for me.

I would think that would just lessen their life? Not an expert on this stuff yet, just learning still myself. :)

I think the one thing you did wrong, was use the rubbing alcohol. From my understanding that is not what you want to use to clean at all. When speaking of alcohol cleaning, the alcohol to be used is pure grain alcohol, like you drink mixed drinks with. The best is called Everclear which is 190 proof alcohol. Second best is the highest grain vodka that you can find.
Not sure if you have ruint the atty, but I would consider recleaning it with the proper alcohol before I used it again.
Rubbing (medical) alcohol will probably leave a bad taste.

I use isopropyl alcohol when cleaning out my attys and have not had any problems. Do you think its dangerous?

Robin I have been using isopropyl alcohol since I started vaping. Just let them dry dry out overnight and you are good to go. Don't forget to prime the atty.

Dry burn can be tricky for new people who may only have one atty so it's the last thing I recommend for getting rid of primer. Also you can only dry burn with manual batteries.

bad atty taste causes

1. the primer fluid (new attys only)
2. cart too dry
3. cart filler not contacting atty well
4. after a week or more, atty may need a wash, cart stuffing may taste bad
5. atty getting too hot and melting cart edge a bit - it is best to line up cart's juice area and atty

And if atty is getting too hot then it probably is not getting enough juice.

Thanks alot folks for all the answers although one is still in the air should the atty have some small fibers off to the side? I assume it should maybe to lead the liquid even closer to the bridge to burn stronger but being new I was just wondering if this was just a different kind of atty than most or standard
