Decided to rebuild the coils on my 2 rm2s today.(was bored). I built the same 1.0ohm microcoil that has become my coil of choice since getting into Reos. I got the first one replaced without issue. when I built the second one though, and tightening up the coil with tweezers, I kept getting ohm readings all over the place. I'd test it and get a 1.0 one time, then test again and get a 4.3 or some other off the wall reading. At first I thought that maybe my mvp2 was crapping out on me, because everything looked perfect, but after testing the first rm2 a few more times I realized that it wasn't the mvp. Something was wrong with my build or my atty. It took a while to pinpoint the problem, but it ended up being that one of my posts was loose. I took a small pair of needle nose pliers and turned the post clockwise, not even knowing if the post are threaded, and it tightened down. Do the post screw into the ceramic deck, or am I thinking I've fixed it, but haven't. Been kind of nervous when using the atty since then, and haven't paid the grand a lot of attention because of it. Also, I'm getting more popping and crackling since I rebuilt it. I decided to use cotton wick today, and am hoping that maybe I just didn't use enough?

Mrs C great answer and link.

I've had the negative post do that and then tighten so the hole is 90 degrees off, pointing sideways. A very small piece of kanthal dropped in the hole let me tighten it down and keep the hole lined up. Only do this with the negative post, it is the one next to the drain hole.

Having more trouble tonight. I dont know why I cant leave well enough alone, but right before I had to leave for work tonight I decided to rebuild both my rm2s even though they were working just fine. Now I'm at work where I have nothing to work with, and both my grand and mini are hitting harsh as hell. I have micro coils on both somewhere in the low one ohms. 1.0-1.4 cant remember what each was. Was rushed when building them. Using readyxwick in both and both have different juice. I'm getting good vapor but both are harsh in the back of my throat. I havent had a smooth draw on either but everything looks fine. Haven't had this happen before. Any ideas as to why?

Id check for a hot leg - where the leg glows between the coil and post. It's easily curable - just slide a slightly smaller rod thru your coil a few times while gently pulling on the coil away from the posts. That is the culprit 99% of the time harshness is experienced.

Hers a vid I made how to remove them - it's right around the 22 minute mark. (But it'll also show you how to build a kick AYuss coil of you can sit thru the whole thing :))
