Rockwool?

Just a though any one try using Rockwool yet? Not toxic, not carcinogenic, non conductive, cheap as dirt and probably best of all very absorbent and wont burn. Its primary use is as fire proof insulation. The hydroponic industry uses it as a wicking medium.

there has bean allot of debates for rockwool/fiberglass insulation health risks regarding lungs and cancer when breathing it's wool, and it is sure not safe.

miniral wools are dusty as it could be, just hitting one with your hands will give you wool all over your body and you will get echy skin like crazy, until taking a bath,

and when soaking rockwool you will see the dust all over the water.

They also use starches and oils and who knows what else as binders when manufacturing it. Also absorbency is not really what you want in a filler...if the filler is more absorbent than the wick it not flow to the coil. Thats why the blue foam and plugs work well because it holds the juice by surface tension until the wick needs it.

I think it needs to be ph adjusted for hydroponics too if I'm not mistaken.
