definatly try the 3/64 first, imo it is the perfect size. the rsst comes with a very tiny air hole so imo you need to open her up, this will help a lot. be easy with the drill bit, it doesn't take much to go through the very thin top cap of the rsst. also with these low resistant coils, with a good wick and coil you should be able to hit the fire button with a full tank of juice and the mod vertical (without the top cap on) and the coils shouldn't light up. if your coils are glowing at this point there is to much heat being produced causing problems.

With juice on the coil, the coils do not light up. Its in my attempts to get it all glowing evenly thats the issue.

When i first fire it, again using the pulse method, the top and bottom coils glow bright. As it spreads to the other coils, with some poking and moving, the glow is noticeably dimmer.

that's good, i really didn't mean that i thought your coil was that way, but in the past its been that way for some. at least you know that your wick is working well and its just a matter of tension with the wires.

SUCCESS!!!!

Sorry for the delay folks, been a tough week with this thing called work/responsibility and all....severely impacting my Vaping experiments...

Came home today with drill and bits in hand, drilled out the air hole to 1/16, then tore the old wick/coil out of the RSST and put a new one together, oxidized, re-oxidized, and put together a coil with 28awg Kanthal.

too tight . . . . . .

pdib you were spot on with this one, I was definitely wrapping my coils too tight, on first pulse three of the 4/3 wrapped coils lit up perfectly, by the third all the coils glowed bright orange :) :). Filled it up, and then proceeded to fill my room up with clouds of vapor :vapor::vapor::vapor:
It was like I was 5 years old again on Christmas morning. This RSST is my new favorite! Glad I didnt have to give up and sell it! It still hits a bit rough, but not unvapeable anymore, figure I just need to lower my nic. But I LOVE it!

Thank you all for the help and advice!!! :toast:

if the throat hit is still unbearable and your coils are not glowing with juice in the tank then make sure your airhole is perfectly in line with the wick. you want as much air over the coil as possible. also if your on high nic juice and your airhole is already aligned then lower your nic and keep in mind juices that are higher in pg will have a harsher throat hit then the higher vg stuff. I actually drilled my hole out to a size 54 bit and pressed a short piece of brass needle stock into the hole to bring the air closer to some of my wicks on certain devices. It serves a double purpose of helping cool the coil and keeping the condensation from the inside of the cap from being able to run down and leak out of the airhole. It is surprisingly effective.
