Just got my RSST and I have a couple of problems that I cant figure out.

First is a very odd one. I took the center screw out but I am unable to unscrew the top metal plate to remove the tank. no matter how hard I try it just does not bulge.

Second one is when I make a coil no matter how I wrap it I end up with the part of the vire comming of the small of the small screw glowing red hot even with a wet wick and usually the wie breaks in that spot after a day or 2 there. Any idea how to get rid of the hot spot beween the wick and the small screw.

Well, the center screw is kind of a floating pin, so it shouldn't be causing any issues with taking the tank apart if the screw is removed. Mine got pretty tight after I reassembled it wet and then let it dry out before filling with fluid, the water was scalding hot when I reassembled it. I basically used a rubber cap in a bench vice and another rubber cap and some large channel locks and loosened it, I just snug it now instead of "Tighten" it and all was fine but be sure to apply even force or you could damage something or warp the central shaft.

As for the hot legs, no clue! I used Kanthal A RIBBON wire and a SS cord wick with a bit of SS mesh around the top and hot legs worked out in seconds and it's been vaping heaven ever since.

The angle of attack for the RSST does matter, The legs need to be of similar length on the top and bottom.

Mine looks burnt at the top but I was dropping on to the coil and didn't realize I was at 5V instead of 4V so the juice burnt. The coil, when dry, heated perfectly from the center out. Notice how the wire is "Kinked" both from the top and bottom poles? That was key to keep hot legs down for me.

For the hot wire, I pull the bottom coil as low towards the base as possible, I also leave some extra length, wrap the wire all the way around the screw, and fold the excess wire over itself between the coil and the screw.

To clarify, leave some excess on the bottom lead of the coil, wrap it around the screw and bring it back around and make a fold over itself between the screw and where the wick is.

Once you have the center post out either the top or bottom will unscrew (actually they both do...that's how you take it apart). Try unscrewing the bottom portion...that should loosen things up enough to unscrew the top. Or try twisting both at the same time.

Hot legs are caused by unequal leg lengths. You need to make sure both legs are as close to the same length as possible. This is easy on the RSST due to the nature of the top post. I usually leave a little extra coil hanging out so I can adjust it one way or the other...either shorten it or lengthen it.

The AGA-T2 has the same problem but it's so easy to fix on the RSST it's really a non-issue for me.
