ss mesh is different on an rsst , try it if you still do not like it do a hybrid im doing what i call a Qtip , ss mesh hollow middle then wrap a small piece of organic cotton on top so it looks like a Qtip it verry good the mesh helps the cotton to wick better ive done straight cotton but it only last me about 2 days b4 it starts to burn from getting gunked up then theres no wicking at all and thats when it burns the cotton

just havnt liked it, granted I only have tried it in a protank. Everytime I have tried it it always has a gross burnt taste to it

It shouldn't taste burnt. If properly oxidized the ss mesh should not affect taste at all (maybe mute the flavor a bit if anything). Cotton on the other hand will taste burned alot faster.

I made a decent silica wick. I feel like ss mesh is really ideal for this atty. It is insulated for mesh... Whats the issues with ss mesh?

I had that problem and found out that I had too many wraps on the wick and it was getting too hot and burning the juice. I took a wrap off the coil and put fresh juice on it and had no problem from then on.

Also, look up videos on SS cable in the Genny style attys. I went to a local hardware store and picked up 1 ft for $.50 of SS cable, came home and cut it into the lengths I needed, torched them, boiled them, torched them then stuck them into some 153 proof liquor I have (moonshine) overnight then torched them again. I then put one section in my Genny and took a small part of SS mesh to wrap the top on the cable. Wrap 28 AWG around it and Viola! The cable wicks like crazy and the mesh works to keep constant contact with the wire so hit spots won't happen. I have a Smok RSST mounted on top of a Smok Magneto using the SS cable/SS mesh with the air hole drilled out to 1/16" and the thing hits like a beast. With a new 18650 battery the thing is a big vapor producer and it has the cleanest and most crisp flavor. It's like hitting a drip atty but out of a tank. Type in SS cable for Genesis atomizer and it should bring up a few for you to watch and see if it would be something you would be interested in doing.

IMO you are "washing" them when you torch them then put them in the liquor overnight. You torch it for a good 3-5 minutes or until it gets red hot. When you do that, you are burning all the manufacturing oil off of the cables and your oxidizing it also. When I torched, then put in the liquor in those 3-5 times, the first thing that happens is you get rid of the oils then the soaking ends up taking away the metallic taste that you may get so you don't have a "break in" period with the cable. It takes more than 1 time to get rid of the metallic taste so that's why I say to do it 3-5 times.
