Hello ECF,

I've been using the berserker MTL rda for a while now and I want to buy an RTA that provides great flavor and tight MTL draw that's not expensive (kayfun is not an option ).
I've been told great things about the Hellvape MD RTA and the Expromizer V4 RTA. Which is better? (Any other recommendations are highly appreciated).

Cheers.

Hi Ken!

How tight do you like your draw to be? I prefer a bit looser draw, but there are many good MTL tanks on the market right now. I just ordered the new Innokin Ares 2, designed by Phil Busardo and Dimitris Agrafiotis, which received great reviews. VandyVape Berserker, Precisio, True, Dvarw FL MTL are also popular for "proper" MTL. I find watching YOuTube videos very helpful.

Good luck in your search.

I prefer a tighter draw. My current setting is the berserker RDA set on the third smallest airflow hole

Look at the new Ares 2. It's beautifully designed, easy to build, doesn't leak, and has a very creative airflow control under the coil.

There's also a new VV Berserker V2. Check it out if you like your V1.

I just ordered a couple of Ares 2 tanks. I have high hopes for them although I haven't seen much in the way of reviews. Innokin generally makes some quality stuff. I did just receive a couple of Hell Vape MDs in the mail. Haven't used them yet, but they also appear to be well made and have several good reviews out there.

@Ken Kaneki, clones or copies will give you the same performance. But at a fraction of the cost.

The Ulton Tripod clone is quite nice, they do need new o rings and deck screws though to allow use of thinner wire. But at the price point you can't complain.

But I can tell you for certain that there is an issue with resistance stability with the Expromizer V4, which is a shame as it's quite nice in some respects.

I'm waiting on some Taifun GX RDTA clones myself, as they look interesting.

Oh and you can still find Vapefly Galaxies MTL RDTA's around, and reasonably cheap as well.

There seems to be a lot of recommendations for the area 2. I looked at a couple of reviews and it looks good and easy to build on and it comes with coiling tools (I've been using pre built coils up till now so it would be nice to get me started on building my own coils). I think it's a good option. Can anyone who tried it tell me about the flavor coming from it? The only issue I have with my berserker RDA is that the flavor is really good with tobacco flavors but lacks in fruit flavors so I'm looking for an upgrade that can perform well on both.

Taste is subjective. So I never offer any opinions on the subject. ;)

But if you're new to building coils, Ares can't be beat. Plus, Phil and Dimitris give you everything you need to make your coils and wicks for months--premade coils, wire, coil winding tool, cotton. And instructions.

Just watch Phil's videos--he really explains everything in great detail. Even if you end up not liking the tank, you will have learned how to build and wick properly.

No, I don't work for them.

I've got that clone and it almost immediately became a top notch to me when I started using it.
I have the smjy version and I would have recommended that one, but I think it's no longer available. I believe they are pretty much identical. I agree, for me it also became top notch and my go-to RTA!

I have the 2K16 version. The only thing, and it's only a minor inconvenience after 2 months or so, is it's a bottom fill atty. My True (which I broke both the tanks of so I can't use it until the slow boat gets here), GoTank, and both the Serpents (mini and SMM) spoiled me for top fillers..

I prefer the Berserker 1.5, Purity, Precisio and Gate over the Ares2 and all for different reasons. Even prefer a doggystyle over the Ares2
But the Ares2 is a good mtl rta and if it was the only one I had I would be happy enough. As it is Ive cleaned it and reboxed it and will revisit it in the future when I feel like a change from the 3 main rta's I use now.

If you want a bottom feeder tank then eh, maybe a MTL Brunhilde. Can adjust the draw to an extent although I prefer an airy MTL vape. You cannot go wrong with a doggystle though. The nature true tank is probably the next tightest draw tank than the Berserker and flavor is great. I would check that one out quite seriously.

I haven't tried it yet, but Ulton do an MTL positive pole for their Taifun GT IV clone.

And the machining and materials are excellent, o rings are garbage though and the largest one for the top cap is oversized. So you end up unscrewing the top section of the RTA from the build deck, replace it with a 1mm thick × 16 - 16.5mm ID to fix.

I have the SMJY also and I believe it's (at least on paper) a tad airier than the SXK version, but the difference is probably negligible--1.8 mm vs 2.5 mm diameter air hole under the coil, if memory serves.

I believe that the latest version, called B-a-st-ard, is a top fill and pretty much trouble free. But again, with a 2.5 mm (or so) airflow is not a "proper" MTL OP is looking for, like Kayfuns Prime or KFl19 or the Dvarws or Berserkers.
