Hi all. I was wondering if you guys could chime in on my project here. I am trying to make a butterscotch flavor. I have so far used only 15% flavoring of only butterscotch. I am using it in a 70/30 with 17.59mg nic lvl. I think I used too much flavor as it stands alone now. It smells and tastes like strong coffee when I first made it. I have let it steep for about 3 weeks now and just now can finally start to smell the butterscotch the way it is intended but the strong coffee smell is still present. I am wondering if I should add a sweetener to it like cotton candy or sweet cream. They are also RTS Vapes flavoring (Flavor Apprentice). I am trying to get a sweeter taste sorta like candy butterscotch. Any input would be truly appreciated or even your own recipe with what %'s you use. Thank you very much and Happy vaping :)

I don't think butterscotch works well as a stand alone flavor. I am thinking you may need to add some creams and vanillas. Sweet cream should help along with maybe some vanilla swirl. A bit of sweetener should be helpful too.

something like
12% Butterscotch
6% Sweet Cream
4% Vanilla Swirl or maybe Vanilla Custard
1% or 2% Sweetener

Hopefully this will give you a starting point

I love Nature's Flavors butterscotch on its own. Tastes just like the candies IMO. I never had any luck with the TFA one. I tried working with that one a lot when I started doing DIY. I got nothing but frustration and wasted time and juice. Of course, your taste buds are different, so you may find a way to make it work.

ECX and High Desert Ecigs both sell NF in small amounts, if you do decide to try it.

I appreciate the replies... so far I had taken out 1.5 ml from a 10 ml bottle of my mix when I first tried it. I vaped the whole thing because waste not want not. I just reminded myself that it was a mocha flavor and not butterscotch... ;) As it is now I took about .5 -1 ml of my friend's 100% VG roasted vanilla that he had left over but didn't want, threw it in, added 10 drops of cotton candy for sweetner (35 drops = 1 ml) and topped it off with my flavorless 75/25 24 mg to make a 15 ml bottle. Needless to say that it smells DELICIOUS. Today I tried a full tank of it and it wasn't to bad, the extra unflavored cut back the flavor of the butterscotch to about 8% I am going to let it steep for about a week and give it a try. I will let you know the result on about the 21st.

Okay....so I couldn't take the smell any longer........started vaping it just 2 days after I mixed it(almost gone already)!!!!!! I got a nice butterscotch flavor on the inhale and after taste with a sweet roasted vanilla on the exhale. Figures I would really like it after just throwing it together. I think that would take care of the hard part. Now I just need to get a few more flavors to start tinkering with it to come close to "claim your throne" On a side note for the Butterscotch Flavor, FA IMO needs about a 1 month steep time for the flavor to really pop. It could be because of the sweetner that I added but I will let you know as next run will have a sweetener added at the beginning instead of 3 weeks later ;)

that's what I do, let steep for a week for sure, then try it. I would say if it tastes good after the week, put some in a diff bottle and let that go for another 3 weeks. Then you can tell the diff between length of steep time. If also you like it, make another batch that just goes the week while the other is still steeping. Trick is to have enough made up that will last you until the next batch is ready so you don't pull from the stock even if it is good at that time. That extra time just maybe your ticket for a favorite ADV. I have 2 others in rotation that gets me through that time period. Cotton candy by itself (1 week steep) and Strawberry with cream (good with 2 week steep). If I am really hard up, I just vape on my unflavored for a week or so.
