Cross posted to Ask the Veterans, but it could be a few days before they get to my post, a warning read. I somehow ruined a Kanger T3 Clearomizer coil (@ 1.8ohms).

Today, my T3 flooded my eGo-C twist 1000mah battery. Fortunately, the battery seems to have survived the mess.

This was a brand new unit, new 1.8ohms coil. I took apart the T3 bottom coil, and noticed the wick was all gunked up, and I think it was blackish in color. My guess is that the wick was no longer wicking as it should, and dropping liquid through the hole into the battery connector. I completely pulled out the wick, including the coil, and the coil itself was black. I assume the coil itself should be black when it heats up.

This happened after I received my new liquid, a sweet tobacco 100% PG. I smoked some of it initially, then added in some 100%PG menthol. Ended up being 50/50 PG/VG mix. I vaped most of the tank, then it flooded.

I think I was using 3.6 or 3.8 volts on the eGo twist, and I'm using a 1.8ohms bottom coil.

I want to avoid this in the future if possible. Can someone help?

Uhh... I wasn't aware the Kanger T3 had anything other than a 2.4ohm coil (+/- .2).

But with a 1.8ohm coil I usually only vape it between 3.3v and 3.6v, they are designed for lower voltages and going above their recommended voltage drastically shortens their life span. Also, regular cleaning is required and if your feeling industrious you can attempt to pick away all that black gunk and see if you can flush enough of it away to be able to use your device again.

Also, I noticed sweeter juices tend to cake onto the coil quicker. Noticed this the other day with some of HHV through my Kanger. Just another thought.

I shipped off an email to sales@vaporcrave.com, asking for an explanation. However I believe my main problem was with the voltage being too high, using 1.8ohms. The 1.8s are probably good for non-VV eGo-C/T batteries.

The coils I bought do seem to be of high quality and well built, knock off or not. I did notice the color of the 1.8ohms attachment ring is more of a silvery color, than what was shipped with the Kanger T3s I ordered there. The original T3 coil attachment rings were significantly darker.

Customer service and shipping at vaporcrave.com has been top notch for me. I expect Mike will clear things up in a Jiffy.

sweet juices will clog up your attie fast,i clean mine after every 2 fills, run hot tap water through it and than dry wicks with paper towel, take head off for this, put head back on than dry burn till it stops smoking, use short clicks so you don't burn out the coils, have been using mine for2 1/2 weeks, as far as the ohms ,the 1.8 will work good with lower votlage batterys, 2.4 ohm for vv mods work best. just rember that ohms times 2 = voltage for best vaping and flavor, i see you got the twist stsrt low and work up voltage to where you like it..

I think I pretty much solved the flooding issue I was having with my Kanger T3s. I have seven of these, the only clearomizers I've used. In stock form, the head vaped just fine for one full tank, and then I started getting off flavors. I rinsed, then dry burned, and the two top wicks just disintegrated. So, I just put it back together with the wick in the coil, and it started flooding like gangbusters. I ended up buying some 100% cotton thread from Michaels, and did a rewick of all my heads including the ones that lay on top of the coil, and bam, no more flooding. Hope this helps.

I think the wicking material is available online somewhere. I've seen a few T3 coil/wick rebuilding videos on youtube. I'll need to get coils somewhere too. It's the wick/coil combo that fails mostly.

Walmart carrys the stuff, the brand is called peaches and cream. I didn't recoil, as the coils appeared to be working fine. I just pulled the old wick out, got 2 strands of cotton (the yarn has 4 strands), threaded them through a sewing needle, threaded that through the existing coil, put a whole thread on top of the coil for a total of 6 threads, put the tube on top, and cut the ends.

Looks like gotvapes.com has the same thing 1.8-2.0ohm.

Those are Kanger knock-offs made by vision,as stated on the vision website

Vaporcrave.com's response:

They are from Kanger but I think they have discontinued the 1.8ohm so when we run out of them we may only carry them in 2.2 and 2.4..

Kanger did stop making the 1.8 T3's several months ago
