I just did my first Russian 91% v2 build and got a ohm reading of 1.4 I did 10 twist on a 1.5 allen key with 28 gauge kanthal. I would like to get a little higher of a resistance but everyone says use a 3/32 drill bit which I don't have and I have watched videos and everyone uses a different drill bit or what have you, what size of a allen key can I use and approximate wraps to get to something like 1.5 to 2.0. I have been trying to find something on youtube but can't seem to find it and on here also.. I have no leaks yet and it's working like a charm, I'm using a Provari and Provape shows my resistance should be at least 1.5 also..Any help would be appreciated :) Oh before I forget I have read that you should stand your Russian upside down when not using this, is this true or can I have it on it's side when not using it

You will be able to increase resistance by adding length to the coil. I like to keep my coils around 9 to 10 wraps, and adjust the diameter accordingly to get the resistance I am after. More surface area gives me better results than larger diameter coils with less wraps. But it's all personal preference and YMMV.

So, in short, I would suggest trying to find something with a larger diameter that you could use. A blunt needle tip, a small precision screwdriver, anything larger than what you have used on your current build and give it a try with the same number of wraps.

It's either trial and error until you find a recipe you are happy with and that should be easy to reproduce. Or you will need to have some drill bits or needle tips of various sizes before you can use someone's else recipe, and the resistance calculators/charts that are available.

hope this helps a bit. g' luck.

Yes this did help me and thank you, I'm still new to coil building but it's fun and saves money :) I haven't been building very long as was scared when I first did my 1st on a protank 2. But I'm getting better and haven't had any shorts either. I just get a bit confused on how many wraps and what to wrap in on but will keep trying different builds.
