From what I read, they said he was going in excess of 110 miles per hour, and was drinking right before the accident. It was a recipe for disaster. He will be missed. I thought all the jackass guys were invincible. This just shows you that they aren't.

Yeah, I'm seeing things about them drinking earlier that night. Bad news for sure.

death is always unfortunate, and always so avoidable. my 15 yr old is getting her permit on wednesday, yeah I am afraid. been driving forever, it is a game out there, not a pleasant one but one that is played all the same...

I know there is alot of young kids that disagree, but I think the legal driving age should be 18 at least, younger kids simply aren't ready. They don't recognize the danger of what they are doing. Driving an automobile is one of the most dangerous things we do in our lives, and once you add in a variable like booze or cell phones, it can turn tragic fast.

I don't think being 18 would really change things much. I think the biggest factor is experience as with anything else. Yes younger people think they are invincible and they do some pretty stupid things but the longer you drive and experience certain situations the better you become. Now as far as alcohol goes that just makes you forget all the experience and takes you back to being invincible again.
It really is a shame that someone has to go so early in the prime of his life and the fact that he took another (passenger) with him. Alcohol + Driving = Bad things.

I guess I'm adding a real sour note to all this. The man was a fine entertainer. There's no escaping that and I applaud him for his talents.

BUT, my sons company recently relocated him and his family to Penna. My son is very intelligent, an ex-bull rider, team roper and saddle bronc rider, has a fine education and is what you would call a man's man.

His wife is lovely, a graduate of St. Thomas in Houston with a 4.0 average from one of the toughest schools in our Country.

Their ten year old daughter is one of the most beautiful children you've ever seen in your life and you would be delighted with her impeccable manners and high degree of intelligence.

They have everything going for them, the whole American dream, and they've worked extremely hard to get it.

They don't deserve to have to go out there and die on our highways for a drunk entertainers (or anybody else's) fun night on the town.
