I am trying to figure out how to make my own DIY kit, however Im looking to do this on the shipping cheap side. So what I would like to know is can I use food flavor from the grocery store. I know that may seem like a stupid question but I want to know if I can and is it safe. Also is their a way to make your own flavors with our being a chemist as I am vary much not.

Thank you

If it helps Im using a 510 on a standard 3.7 bat

You can use some McCormick type in a pinch, but avoid ones that contain sugar, oil, any kind of gum, and you could do without the artificial color. They're not overly concentrated, though, and it may not be very cost effective when you use enough to get flavor. If you've got a craft shop like Michael's around, frequently in the candy section they have Lorann's flavorings, and some have also spotted the Lorann's at Walmart.

If you have a Michaels, Hobby Lobby, or someplace that specializes in cake decorating supplies, pick up the LorAnn's flavorings they sell. IIRC the list of safe ones is in post 1 of Nikhil's guide. Just scroll upward.

Edited to say that if you order online, Perfumer's Apprentice is south of you in California. She will ship regular first class mail which tends to be cheaper than priority, though no tracking number, and the shipping times are the same. I only pay a couple of dollars shipping for small packages and I'm halfway across the country.

There are a couple of different ones, but the one that seems to have the most variety is Flavour Art. I think there is a thread somewhere on here that describes what the different flavors are. One of the wise elders of this forum has just opened a shop and has the FA flavors on sale for $2 for a 3 mL bottle would give you a chance to try in smaller sizes and decide what you like. You would be able to get anything you could possible want in his DIY cabinet, and as I recall the shipping is only $2 for ten bottles of less. There is a PureVape page in the general suppliers forum and there is more information there.

I'm really only into tobacco flavors. With Flavorart 1drop to 10ml = strong flavor so it is very cost effective, more bang for your buck. If you don't mind having your flavourart in plastic bottles R&R is the best I've found to date. Very fast, as fast as madvapes, 2-3 days, and shipping was only $3.50.

Capellas has free shipping on orders over $5. Only problem is that most of their flavors are only available in the 13ml $6 sizes. They do have 3 packs available where you can save a couple bucks but they are limited selections in each 3-pack category. The choclate lovers 3-pack has a real good selection of choco varieties. Can't give an opinion on their flavors as i'm waiting on my first order from them. Got 26 flavs enroute, can't wait to try them.

Capellas has the mini-bottles, too. I don't believe they have all flavors but they do have the most popular. Buy 5 get one free, for a total of $14.95, you could even get all six in one flavor if you wanted, and free shipping.

How much is all dependent on how much liquid you use per day, and how much flavoring you like to use in your mixes, which will from flavor to flavor. Start with small sizes of flavor to find ones you like and then buy larger sizes of the ones you like. With nicotine is depends on the mg you vape and again how much you vape each day.

Perfumers Apprentice has some tabacco flavs although i haven't tried them.

Here's a helpful chart i love with lots of good info on what flavors are out there and which ones don't contain oil. It's not complete but very useful. https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=twkZxTPB59pKU3ZOnEsDYbg&hl=en#gid=0

Here's a couple links to some suppliers i think have a good selection of nic and diy supplies:
UnFlavored Smoke Juice - MFS Inc.
and
One Stop DIY Shop

Please treat the nic with due respect. At high strengths like 100mg it can be quite dangerous if not stored, handled and measured properly... seriously.

I would recommend starting small with diy and experimenting. Keep a bottle of premade juice you know you like on hand in case your initial batches taste like sweaty foot. I would get 30mls of nic juice at the strength you use to keep it simple. As you gain confidence in mixing then go for double your nic strength in base and it's easy to just cut it in half with 0 nic pg or vg to get it to your desired nic strength to save a little more cash.

The flavorings are where it really gets tricky and as Nikhil said, start with small sample sizes to find the ones you like. Once you get into combing flavors, keeping good records of how much in percentages or drops is critical to being able to reproduce a flavor once you have a "eureka moment". Juice calculators are extremely helpful, i like these:
eJuice Recipe Calculator
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...downloadable-e-juice-recipe-software-app.html
This one by Scuadatdan is supposed to be the bees knees but i dont have excel installed yet so i haven't used it:

There's a mountain of good advice on this forum. I swear i would be lost without the help and information provided by the wonderful people here. Seriously, what a great bunch. Helpful, friendly, extremely well informed and just plain fun to shoot the crap with. Hats off to you all...
