Hi this is my first post so thought I'd start with an important one.

Its been three weeks puffing on the mains and haven't wanted a cig once, but the only concern was the fibreglass wick.

So being a upholsterer I have lots of twines and stuff all over the place, doing some research something was staring me in the face.

Hessian fabric which is (jute) looking on the web it's about as safe as it gets,I've got it in ce2 clearomizer and it works great got a A.R.T repairable coming in the post an cant wait to try.

Homebase is selling natural jute twine for penny's so its very cheap to!

Hope this was of some help.

I've done some searching for replacing the wick in my Odysseus. Long story short it sounds like 100% cotton is the best for wicking and the safest. Last night I picked up a bag of 100% cotton balls from walmart. I plan on trying that out today.

I've been thinking about getting into rebuildables but wanted to get my ducks in a row with the wicking first. Let us know how this works (and, more importantly, how you did it)!

I've got a A.R.T repairable coming in the post and will post some pics with both cotton and jute twine setups and how they run.

I'm having good success with cotton crochet thread. Started with 4 strands, now using 2 strands with no wicking problems at all.

I was looking at some (I *think* it was called "crochet thread") but it said it was "mercurized" or something like that, and I was afraid to try it for vaping. Is the stuff you got pure cotton? And did you boil it a few times before using? Just wondering... Thanks! :D

Wikipedia says its a process for creating a "thermodynamically more favourable beta-cellulose polymorph" whatever that means. It does involve the use of some nasty chemicals. I did boil it for 10 minutes, three times. Hmmm...

EDIT: the term is "mercerized"

According to the thread here on safe wicking materials:

cotton yarn (regardless, make sure whatever you get is 100% cotton and NOT mercerized)
