In the spirit of the email from yesterday I'll offer the following suggestion for better customer service.
Lock don't delete the thread describing the sale. Edit the first post in the thread with a comment that the sale is now over. If edit the first post isn't possible perhaps the thread title can be changed?
That way folks can know for certain that sales are over and new folks looking back in your forum can see the wide variety of deals you offered.
