I'm a 100% VG user and have always been (aside from PG contained in flavoring), but have noticed some ppl referring to adding a few drops of saline to VG to bring out the flavors so that you can use less flavoring, and also for reducing dehydration <?>... are these the reasons ppl do this?

Also, saline doesn't keep on its own from what I understand, and preservatives don't seem like a good thing to vape <?> (maybe I'm wrong and they are in all kinds of inhalants), but does anyone make their own saline from distilled water and sea salt, and how exactly is it used... just add a couple drops to your tank when filling? I can't see how it could go in a DIY recipe is it doesn't keep...

Thanks!

I've used the "wound care" no preservative saline spray last winter @1%...prevented nose bleeds in me since I nasal exhale , helped some flavor notes too...opinion only, bakery notes...I liked it ...it gunked up my coils though(salt left behind?)...I should probably just try some plain old distilled water instead this season though to see if that alone adds hydration and prevents nose bleeds

That seems odd... ?

Distilled water is whats usually used but I've tried saline as well. Saline seems to smooth out the ruff edges a little better then DW.

So did you buy saline or make it? And how did you use it? Add it to your tank, or juice bottle?

PG is a preservative/antimicrobial. I would expect it would help keep funky stuff from growing in your juice with saline in it.

Good point except I don't use PG. :)

Yes, saline adds an effect to the flavor, just as salt does In cooking. Flavor is subjective. But, the best part to me is that it alters the osmotic balance as prevent dehydration in the airways. Been using it at 3 drops per 10ml, with an extra drop every 30 ml for over a year now. I don't get dry at all.
I have no idea why it wouldn't keep. Distilled water and sodium hydroxide.
Salt water. The oceans don't spoil. My wound wash hasn't. If your not drying out, kool, if you are saline works.
Flavor is subjective, if you don't use much, it won't taste salty, but it won't hurt the flavor either.

Thanks, that was very helpful with the amounts. I don't get dry but like trying things. :)

I bought a .09% premixed solution from ebay and used it just like I would use distilled water adding it right into the juice mixture.

I used Saline for a while (wound cleaner) really didn't notice any difference between it and distilled water. I was hoping for a big improvement in juices due to the salt - no go for me in side by side reviews.

I've been using DW for about six months now with pleasant results. I use it in my CPAP so always have a gallon or two around.

(Love your Avatar. Would love to hear what he'd be writing now. And bet he'd be into vaping. :) ) What's a "CPAP" ?

Won't be long till somebody mod's a CPAP Machine, Think about it 8-10 hours of forced vapour overnight. That would definitely sort out the nic craving first thing in a morning.......
There are two things that have had a significant impact on my long term health one is a CPAP the other is a REO!
