Help me understand.

Same juice loaded into two different clearomizers. Had two because one for me, one for hubby. They were both filled at the same time from the same bottle with new coils.

1. EVOD Glass, dual coil tests at 1.6 ohms

2. ProTank Mini 2 v2, single coil tests at 1.7 ohms

On the same battery, I'm happy with the EVOD at 7.5 watts. The ProTank is nasty at 7.5. Yuck. The ProTank is best at 6.5 watts.

I'm still feeling my way out with vv/vw, but I assumed that if I liked an e-liquid at 7.5 watts that would be its "sweet spot" whatever I had it in. So what else is affecting this? Airflow? Dual vs single coil? Something else? I hate feeling so clueless.

The main difference will be the single vs dual coil. That dual coil evod has 2 coils that each measure 3.2ohms set in paralel, giving a total resistance of 1.6 ohm. That being said, each coil is producing 3.75 watts, or getting 1.7 volts per coil, vs that single coil in the protak, getting 3.57 volts to that lower resistance single coil at 7.5 watts.

In short, dual coils in general require more power that a single coil of the same resistance for a similar warmth of vape. Also, dual coils do tend to vape a little bit smoother, even though they tend to be a warm vape, vs single coils can get hot and harsh at high settings.

Okay, thanks. Think I got it now. That was the only dual coil I tried. My hubby can keep it. I think I prefer the singles.

I prefer both! Vape on, whatever works best for you is the best setup in the world. Glad I can help clear this up, this is a wonderful comunity and I'm proud to be a small part of it and give back some of the wonderful help that I've gotten from here.
