Samples question (not free) or DIY.... or ... what?

I used to be more concerned about the amount of nic I get, and less concerned with the flavor. It's now flipped, and I'm more concerned about the good flavor, and less nic.
I vape up to 4.8 volts wall plug. I tasted my friend's juice the other day on his regular mod (big old thing) and it tasted like heaven. I understand the flavor is enhanced at a higher voltage. Is this correct? First off, yes I'm going to try his brand. Second, has anyone gotten hooked on a good flavor through samples? Really what I'm looking for is something that doesn't have that chemical/cotton/plastic flavor to it. And is actually something pleasant to have in my mouth. So I feel like some people do it well, and some people don't. The stuff I get is very cheap, and therefore likely, pretty bad.
Also, it's not so much the exact flavor I'm looking for, it's the quality of the juice. I'm not picky on flavors, just not tobacco, really. Do companies ever offer small samples for a small price of a few of their types of juice in an attempt to get you to like their juice, or no? I know they're out there, because I just tasted it the other day! It was awesome. However, I'm not going to buy a bottle of juice for 25$ like my friend does. Maybe I should just make my own. Any thoughts? And I like the flavor a little stronger than most offer. Anyway. Thx for reading my ramble. Any hints in my direction within the rules are appreciated. I have PG and VG, don't have my own organic cotton yet, but could easily. Thanks all.

Well pallets are a Funny thing...and Yes Heat will Change a Flavor....As Far as Sample packs I Know Roarvapor.com and Goodlifevapor.com Both have Sample Packs on their sites...And as you Find What you Like you can get a stockpile of Juice...

Higher voltage doesn't necessarily mean better flavor, you can burn juice! the more vapor you produce the more flavor you will get! I make my own coils and juice, my juice is mixed at 70VG/30PG and my coil is at 1.0Ohm and vape at 4.0V, everyone is different though

Vape Moar sells their 15ml bottles for $3.00 (I think that's right) as their regular price, and the whole set of 10 flavors (in 15ml bottles) for around $20.00. I haven't found a flavor of theirs I don't like. I didn't try the tobacco flavor because I don't care for tobacco flavor, but my husband said it was really good - very mild and sweet. So maybe I'd even like that one. At $3.00 per 15ml bottle, I consider it a steal.

Hmmm... I just checked their site to double-check the prices, and it seems they only sell the 120ml bottles as singles now (those are $20 each) and the 15ml are only in the 10-pack sampler set for $20. Vape Moar is a registered supplier here, though, so if you were interested, you could contact them and find out if you can still order the small bottles singly. On the other hand, for $20 you could have all ten, and really, they're all very good!

Ahlusion will give you a custom 10ml sample with an order $20 of custom liquid. You just put the flavor, PG/VG ratio, strength, etc in the comments box. (The current sale is on XPress and Max-V liquid. XPress purchases do not count toward the $20, Max-V might. You'd have to check.)

ETA: The higher wattage/voltage you vape at, the faster you will go through a bottle of liquid. For good quality liquid, you are going to pay close to $20 for 30 ml if it's not on sale.
