Has anyone successfully made their polished finish atty into a satin finish atty?

I was thinking about using 2000 grit sandpaper or something.

I've seem some cool stuff done with raw tumbled Grands. I'm talking about my RM2, though.

Uhhh as soon as you hit a RM2 with any grit sandpaper you get brass pretty darn quick ... too quick I suspect to get any decent results.

I sanded down a few RM2 to brass. there is a fine layer of copper between the chrome and the brass. I suspect you'll not be able to get an even finish and would have some areas that go to copper.
