Tomorrow morning is the letter handover at 10am outside Whitehall to Public Health Minister Jane Ellison MP with the saveecigs letter.

ITV cameras will be there, so if you want to add your support and get on TV, get to Whitehall and show your support. This is a final push to stop the end of our ecigs. Leave your armchairs, sofas, warm beds and help protect the very things we want to keep.

Be there if you can, and add your signature to the letter! :)

SJ and I will be there, hopefully we'll get a good turnout!

Any feedback of how it went would be much appreciated...

.. I have already heard that Ellison refused to accept the petition this morning... :(

I believe that we saw with Soubry and now Ellison that first time junior ministers (which both were) are more inclined to simply do as they are told. If the Governments position is X than the Minister is duty bound to just follow position X. She's just the figurehead taking the flak for Hunt and the Government. Their positions are more show than substance, so it's no surprise that they tow the line, especially as they will be wanting to make a good impression i.e. carry this legislation through as instructed by their party bosses.

The reality is that she probably had no idea about the TPD prior to her appointment, so she will be relying solely on the (mis)information and advice from the Dept of Health civil servants e.g. Black etc. Even if she is now aware of how contentious e-cigs are she will have no mind of her own as she's simply like a ventriloquist's puppet there to say and do as she is being told. This folks sadly is our democracy.

There was a small but vocal turnout, 3 coalition MPs showed support and were very enthusiastic, the ITV crew were very nice and got plenty of footage and interviews.

But yes, no-one from Department of Health would accept the petition, they told us to leave it with reception.

Wow! Are we so unimportant that no-one could be bothered to accept it personally??

Vapers are voters too, for goodness sake!

I think more likely our voices are speaking to much truth they don't want to hear - someone accepting personally means they are responsible for answering us and they are too cowardly to do that.
They must prefer the silver lining their pockets from the tobacco companies than hearing and seeing how much better we are for vaping. :(
