Hiya gang!

Wow, I'm glad this forum is here, but still, its alot of info to sift through.

I'm a total greenhorn to the whole vape thing. (To vape, lol, that is the term, right?)

I bought a disposable to try it and I like it! I want to buy a set up, BUT it is so overwheming. ALL the different types and and companies. Alot of places have different models and I am not sure what I want. It looks like this forum will be helpful in my decision making. I may ask alot of questions

I was buying my cigarettes from an Indian Reservation in NY (Smokin' Joe's) untill the feds found a way to tax them. So, I started to roll my own cigarettes and they found a way to tax that as well. I am currently sick of rolling and stuffing tubes.

Looks like ecigs are the way to go. I can't wait till I decide whats good. This isn't cheep to start out, so I want to be careful.

I'll be back with alot of stupid questions if I can't find the answer here.

Welcome!! I too am a noobie and started off with a joye 510 but wish I would have got a an eGo instead.

I will say that since I have started to vape i have quit analogs altogether!!!

if you want a good cheap set-up, the 510 is a good choice. If you want to invest a little more, an ego is a good choice. These are the 2 i recommend because these are the only 2 i have used. I am sure others will be along shortly to give you their opinions. welcome to the forum and congrats and choosing to vape!

That was me too. I still have 3 or so lbs. of tobacco, a few hundred tubes and a Topomatic machine that I need to get rid of. Oh well. Welcome to the forum and your new life!

Just block out the next month for reading on the forum. It's more addicting than nicotine OR caffeine. The two I saw most recommended were the 510 with atomizers and carts and the 2-piece with cartomizers. I chose the 2 piece, so know nothing about the 510's. I'm happy with my choice. I went with vapor4life and they're a good supplier. Their "family" is a little over the top, but they have pretty good reasons for their customer loyalty. Good luck! I also chose vaping for cost/availablity reasons--wasn't planning on quitting, just trying to stay out of the poorhouse. After a couple of months I accidentally quit smoking. Pretty cool deal all in all (except for all the fear about bans). Good luck.

Grats on the move to vaping. I am not even going to try and offer advice as it seems that everyone, including me, likes to try many different models before they settle on one. If they ever do, that is.

I will tell you my progression just on the off chance that it helps you.

I started with the KR808D-1, went to Tornado, then GGTS and Precise. I can also tell you that I don't use the KR808D-1 or the Tornado batteries anymore.

If there is a lesson for me there, it would be to skip the small costs and just get a good mod. Juice, batteries that aren't proprietary, atties, and cartomizers will be your costs for the future.

Oh yeah, one more thing. I wanted a longer-lasting battery life because of a 4-day music festival in the woods that I go to, so I bought a Silver Bullet with an adaptor for the cartomizers. It's awesome! The charge lasts about 2 days!

It is such an individual thing but you can always trade/sell them on the classifieds if you buy something that you find you don't like. As you can see from my sig, I have tried quite a few. I love the 510 and the Ikenvape lazers and my Tornado (same as ego). I have tried a juice box mod, not my thing. I do love the Little Chuck but it is too big for me to take to work and out/about so I only use it at home. Mostly use the Indulgence at home also. Also had a mini pipe, that wasn't my thing either. Have to try them until you find what works best for you.

Another way to look at it is to buy a kit with a wide availability, say a 510, KR808, eGo, etc. The cost will be less than a couple of weeks worth of cigarettes. Spend some time on the forum and see how others have overcome some of the negative traits of your model that you are bound to find. Then you will have some real knowledge as to what direction you want to go in a more expensive PV, if you do.

Whatever you decide, I would highly recommend getting another PV to add to your arsenal soon. You don't want your one PV to die and be forced back to analogs.

The people are exceptionally friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable! And I definitely feel your pain about the taxes in Michigan, but you may just find that you like vaping better than smoking analogs..I did!!!

Start off reading through everything in the ECF Library section of the forum - there are tons of informative posts there (not too many words though lots of helpful pics) so you can get a 'feel' for a PV you might like for yourself.
We all have our faves so you will find lots of recommendations in THIS (new members) forums but generally the most popular types of PV are the 2 piece, called a KR8 or 808 and the 3 piece, usually a JOYE510 but there are others too. There are variations on both these kinds of units, often with 'trade names'. You can get basic kits or kits with bigger, longer battery life. For accessories you can get on the go chargers (PCC) and at the PC wired batteries (PT). Already this is sounding confusing, I remember being new too
Go read first, look at the images on the posts in ECF Library and come back afterwards with questions.

Welcome Kookie! You're in Detroit I see. I lived in westland for a long time. raised my kids there. I moved out to the woods about 5 years ago. I suggest you keep your choices between these 3 models. The Joye 510 (It's worth it to get the eGo), the kr808-d, or the DSE901. Those seem to be the most reliable models. Down the road you may get tired of charging batteries all the time and want something that takes a bigger battery but for now just enjoy the ride.

I am also new to ecigs, just four weeks into using them and already almost analogue free. I started with a KR808D-1 aka Vapor King from V4L. They are really good. But I have since decided that a three piece ecig is easier for me to refill, though ymmv, and many prefer cartomizers. I suggest you consider a 510, because they can be used either as a three piece or as a two piece, and you can try one either way to find what works well for you. But I do recommend mega or xl batteries.

Just bought a 510 locally. came with mlb hig 24 cartridges, used for an evening no problem.left together over night,next morn cart leaking at joint.took 2 drags battery blinked so changed battery.took 2 drags and got very sick.head felt awful,even threw up. what did I do wrong.

Wow, alot of info to absorb. The ECF Library is excellent! I spent all night looking at everything. Tons of videos out there. I'm down with all the terminology. Damn, its a whole world to its own. (Even in the shower, lol.)

I still am somewhat clueless as what to buy first off. I will make my decision today and get to vaping soon. My little disposable wont last much longer.

Hell, I don't want to wait, I may go to the local truck stop and get the NJoy I think they have there. You know I've been seeing those at truck stops for a long time and I was curious but wanted a demo. I would have gotten one a long time ago if I knew it worked.

One question off the bat... I noticed the vape is a little, how should I say this, steamy tasting? I know... I am vaping. I would assume the taste would have alot to do with the e-juice. I am puffing on a disposable here and don't know whats in there to be sure.

Thank you for all your wonderful suggestions and I will order some thing today. Hopefully it will come by the weekend. I rarely go out anymore but it is my nieces birthday and I've been recruited to be the designated driver. I'm gonna need something that would last the night.

Oh, one more thing... Kinda wierd and funny. I got a call this morning from a company that sells ecigs. I first thought it was because I registered here, but then remembered I looked at a site last week with an incredible deal. I logged on to their site to see whats up. I was a buy it cheap get roped into buying (them sending) carts every month. I totally grilled the guy with my knew found info and scared him off. Hell, I told him things he didn't know, lol.

Likely your nic level is too high - sounds like it to me - there is a remote possibility that youa re sensitive to PG but thats not as common as people over-estimating what amount of nic they need. Its hard to judge though until you try it, so don't feel silly; either get some plain PG or VG (pharmacy sell it, food grade, tell them you want it to make soap) and dilute your carts a bit or just get new carts - maybe try a 12mg this time and if its too low then just mix your 24 and 12 (more 24 than 12) to get something in between.
Working out your right nicotine strength is always a lottery; there's no cookie cutter spec for xx brand of cigs as everyone is different biologically.


Kookie - Id hold off on the Njoy if you can, you might end up wishing you'd spent the cash on tasty juices Also a basic 510 kit (low battery life fyi) is around $40 shipped from places like www.cignot.com so why spend more if you don't have to? You can also get a disposable 510 kit (good for a few recharges) from www.madvapes.com for around $10 a kit (I'm not sure how much shipped)

welcome to vaping..luckily this forum is here for us greenhorns..i have been vaping for 5 days and havent touched an analog since..not even had the urge to do so..if it wasnt for this forum i wouldve spent way more then i did to start..i mean i spent alot but it was on quality products that are highly recommended like the joye 510...good luck and just wait til you start buying your e juice..u just might go a little crazy cuz there is so many out there..

Haha, anyway, I think I'll start out with the 510. It seems that would be a good place to start, although I almost went with two others. I'm just sick of trying to decide. Plus it seems everyone here ends up having several different types and I will too most likely down the road.

I was gonna get the 808 but I think the 510 is a bit more versatile not having the cartomizer. The eGo seem a bit large to start. The pen styles are not my style to start. The Blu's and Luci's don't seem to have enough vape. IDK, I could be wrong on this, but I've decided for lack of deciding.

Now, I'd like to find some coupons or something and I just don't know were to look now. I found some along the way in my research, but have no idea where I might find them now. Any ideas where I could apply some discountage?

Also, what is a wide band atomizer for the 510? Does that only go with an eGo? Is it just aesthetics?
