Ok here is my story.
Got an original Hex back in December. Chose the classic 4081 Atty(had lots of them around from my TW Super days). Opted to run at 3.7 since that's what I was used to with the Supers. About a month ago I got curious about 6 volt vaping. Ordered the Smart charger and 2 sets of Cr2s from Rick. Charged them up til they were nice and green. Popped them in. First draw was outstanding. Problem is there was no 2nd draw. Nothing. Well thought it was the atty since the one I was using had been going since Valentine's Day. No problem...always keep a spare on me. Popped it in...nothing.Could be a DOA atty I thought. Got home and mailed Rick. While I waited thinking I had made a mistake thinking the 4081s can't handle 6v I looked at some reviews. Saw a video that Grimm Green posted and he was vaping at 6 with a 4081.So I went to my stash. 2 more sealed attys fresh from the factory. Tried them both at 3.7 worked. Tried them at 6 and one puff and dead. Anyone else ever have any problems with these attys and 6volts? I'd hate to go to an adapter.

You know, you may be right. Guess the TW supers were never meant to pull that much voltage.I did notice the bridges were a bit smaller on replacement attys that I got. BTW Rick emailed me back(at 5A.M. thank you Rick.) Said his original designs ran with the 4081. Looks like I just need to get some "battle tested" attys. Rick...here comes an order...

Anything near 6v need HR gear . VV is better since you can find the sweet spot . The point of VV is not to see how much voltage you can use but rather to be able to adjust for each atty or carto you use . Even juices need to be adjusted to for best flavor . I use a provari and have only needed to go over 5v once rarly do I go over 5v even on a HR atty .

Well I got it all settled. Apparently I just have a cursed unit. Got some 4081s directly from Rick and the first one died as well. Rick was awesome about it and offered me a credit for the attys even the one I killed. He even offered to switch out the connector if I wanted to. After looking around on here I found a 4081 bat to 510 atty adaptor(rare for some reason) and after attaching some new gear to it my hex is running at 6 volts. And it is unheard of. Thanks for all the help Rick.
