Title says it all. What is the scariest game that you have some across that gave you chills, and made you jump?

I have two. My favorite Survival Horror game I've ever played has to be Silent Hill. I was about 6 years old when that game came out. I remember playing it, and I just wasn't able to finish it at that age. When I got my Ps3, I saw they had it on the PS store. I bought it, and beat it within 3 days. Now I can honestly say that the Silent Hill series is great.

Now the second is just straight up scary. Many of you have probably heard of it, some probably not. This game is called; Amnesia: The Dark Descent. I can't tell you how freaked out I get when I play this game. For those who don't know about this game. Basically it's based in the late 1800's. You wake up, not knowing who you are and where you are, the only way you remember who you were, is by finding notes scattered across the castle you've awoken in. Sometimes picking them up can be a bad idea. The game gives you no way to defend yourself, other than hiding places. It's also implemented a sanity meter that constantly goes down when you're either; In the dark for too long, witness unsettling events, or by staring at monsters/enemies.

Other than the scare factor, this game is phenomenal. For anyone who likes to be scared, or is looking for a new Survival Horror game, get this and enjoy it. There's a lot of replayability due to countless Custom Stories that are made.

When I play Amnesia, I broadcast it live for everyone to see/laugh at me for. If anyone's interested in seeing it, PM me and I'll tell you where to go, I don't want to break any rules by posting something of my own creation.

So, community, what's the scariest game you've played?

When I play that game

Oh wow, I totally forgot about Dead Space. That game definitely scared the hell out of me playing it.

supergerbil, Amnesia does something similar with the "sanity", but not to the effect where the computer will turn off, head will pop off, save will be corrupt. Sometimes you will notice a bug crawling on the screen. Creeps me out just thinking about it.

Yes Eternal Darkness was kind of creepy in a sense.

Never played Amnesia but I saw the review Yahtzee did over at The Escapist and it looked pretty interesting.

How about Limbo? I only played the demo but I could see it being a bit freaky.

Limbo isn't that scary, it definitely is creepy to a sense due to the fact that there is absolutely no music. The game is extremely fun, however.

Dead Space is a good one, along with the original couple of R.E.'s back in the day. F.E.A.R. was good and creepy as was Silent Hill.

Amnesia.....well I found it incredibly boring honestly, played around with it for a couple of hours and just got annoyed, sure it had some creepy parts, but I think the game mechanics irked me to the point that it wasn't worth playing for me.

I guess I've become desensitized to them, growing up watching horror movies, you end up with a sixth sense for when something disturbing is about to happen.

Ouch.

Thats all I have to say about that.

Lol so that was the part where you gotta run like headless chicken and the regenerator chasing you :) thank god that around all the bs these damm things show some fear or respect to elevators and dont dare to come to you hehehe , i went to the upper level just to find the same scene urggg i was mad ...... at that point BUT a put my big boy pants and went oldschool with these guys :p and yeah the cheap way using stasis and throwing things and limbs ; noticed the regenerator dude will remain up there i manage to go back using the same cheap tactics staying in the elevator lol , got some supplies and went back to the "safe room" with the bench and store , sold the upgraded contact beam and bought it again , bought chit load of ammo and health and went ahead..... Next part have nothing funny about it :( i dont know i just feel like theres no point in throwing that many enemies at you plus the "thats right i dont die" guy ! Im getting very frustrated so i took a long brake and puff i dont think i plan and finish these tonight.

I still think the original Resident Evil stands out in my mind as having the most dramatic setting. There is one corridor where a dog busts through a window that still evokes a tiny bit of pee when I revisit the game! The sound, the setting and overall ambiance had me fidgity the entire time.
