Hanging out in CA for now
We left Solydad Canyon this morning headed to Banning, CA. It's only about 110 miles. Under normal circumstances we would have waited a day to leave. We had to make the drive because the RV shop that was doing the warrenty work on the rig stays really busy & are booked out 2 weeks in advance so no changing our appointment. The rain was pouring in buckets & the winds were rouring with 50 mph gusts. And to top it off we were driving through the Mountains going up & down & round & round. Anyone who has ever been in an RV with high winds knows just how scary that can be. Needless to say I was super SCARED. We didn't know if we would have to leave the RV overnight & get a hotel so I had my stash in the truck instead of the RV. I burned thru 2 1/2 eGo batteries in less than 3 hours. Yep, I was chain :vapor: vapeing to the nth degree!!!!! Most of it with my eyes closed!!!!

All is well now though. The rig has been cleared for travel & we are safely sitting in an RV park near Palm Springs. Tomorrow we head for the Colorado River for a week but the winds and rain are supposed to be gone by morning. And yes...my batteries are being recharged as I type...just in case....

So how was your day?

Glad to hear you are safe and sound, Norry!

I've made that trip from Redlands, CA to Tucson, AZ and back more than a few times with my grandparents in their RV (the big dinosaurs near Blythe are my favorite :p) and I know that stretch of desert can be brutal in a storm. I can only imagine it today, even San Diego got a little dicey :).

On a brighter note, my day was wonderful! I just got home to see big bottles of FSUSA juice in my mailbox! Rain, snow, sleet or hail! :)

Thanks for the well wishes folks...Glad your juice made it stifle. We'll be driving thru Blythe tomorrow.

Salem, I could never be a truck driver. We've always been truck friendly, even back when we drove cars on trips. A lot of folks in cars just don't realize that big rigs can't stop on a dime and more than once I've seen truckers cut off. We notice it more now since we're in the rig and cars jump out from behind us and then cut in front of us just so they can hit their brakes and get off on the next exit. Thankfully, my hubby is an awesome driver.

Son et....That's why I have 8 eGo's. If the power goes out I have plenty of back up and I also have a thing-a-ma-jig for the lighter, so worse case scenario, I go start the car and plug the battery in to charge. Who the heck cars about using up a little gasoline when your in danger of all your batteries dying........

Hey Norry, I would have had to park my travel trailer if I was in what you went through. Even if I had to do some rescheduling. Just not worth the risk.

I got my 5th wheel hooked up to my pick-up and its ready to go to the shop tomorrow for servicing and to fix a few things. Hopefully, it won't be long after that and we'll be getting on the road.

Earlier I went out to check my babies, here's a couple pics of them.

I hear ya TT....Couple of things factored into making the decision. Our warrently expires in a couple of days since they did discover that the axle will need to be replaced we really needed to have it on record. The problem just came up 2 weeks ago so we were kind of stuck. It's not gonna be a cheap fix. Also, according to the weather experts (oxy-..... statement)...It wasn't supposed to be quite so bad and once we started going thru the passes that was all she wrote. Believe me if hubby thought it got to be too much he would have gotten off the road by the quickest route (hopefully not over the cliff). He's a great driver and handles road pressure much much better than I do. After we got back down in the valley & he unglued my hands from where I was holding on for dear life he said that it was only really hairy for him for about 15 miles....I don't do traffic or weather well. Back when I still smoked analogs I could go thru an entire pack driving on I-30 between Fort Worth & Dallas. What made it worse was that we got up and headed out thinking we'd get coffee on the road. Well we hit the weather & didn't want to stop so I didn't get my first cup of java until about 11:00 a.m. This from a 2 pot (yep pot, not cup) per day coffee drinker.......I'm sure that added to my nnnnnnerves......LOL

A true cowboy hat & all. Luv the exhaust on your 4 wheeler. Take it through a few mud ponds do ya? Your babies are sure cute & cuddley looking. There's one in the 2nd pic, on the right side, that is sure making a (hind-quarter) statement. Is she mad at you????????

LOL, I guess there's about three or four fleets. Way too many. My son-in-law is the head man and he's got a few "Frenchmen" that help. Their English isn't real good. I'm retired, so I don't do too much. My son-in-law won't let me but I probably wouldn't anyhow.

And only two pets. Their Longhorns and have their own pastures. And there's some horses, dogs, cats, a small bass lake, a catfish pond and a crappie pond and grandkids.

Gosh Norry, I don't know how many hats I have ... maybe 12. Some are for winter and some are for summer. Then of course ball caps because sometimes regular hats just aren't the thing to wear. The 4wheelers let me go across country and from pasture to pasture to check fencing, cows getting ready to drop and so on. A few places are a little sloppy.

That cow with her backside to me ... I think she thought I was Ab when she saw me coming.

Ha Ha, Yeah, don't forget the "grandkids"! How many do you have and how spoiled have you made them?? I bet with a Paw Paw as crazy as you, they are characters.

LOL, just five grandkids, but there's always kids from town here to ride horses and run barrels, poles and practice their roping skills in the arena. But they help keep the stables clean, help with feeding, brush the horses then come to the house and empty the pantry and refrigerator. Good kids!

And yeah, the grandkids are really characters. I don't know where they get it, but they can come up with some real off the wall stuff. One that I can't forget was one granddaughter. My wife was going to the big town and asked the granddaughter if she wanted to go along. My wife has that Sirius Radio in her Lincoln and she and I always like to listen to the Elvis station. My granddaughter said she didn't want to go because she didn't like that Classical Music we listen to....

Remember, this IS the Piney Woods of Texas!

Yeah, that's my Mrs. T. Isn't she just the cutest little thing? And she loves being out on the 4wheelers too. All I have to do is suggest it and she's out the door and on hers waiting for me.

And she might not be big in inches, but she's big in "woman" and can put the fear in a guy!

Oh, I'm not doubting she could put a hurting on you! But you better quit calling her a "large" woman because now we know the truth! And not only are you an "exaggerator" but you must be a "cradle-robber" too. Like those younger little wemmin, huh? All I know is she must be a saint to put up with you!
