Yes, there has been some. Not as much as there should be, but enough to know that what you're exhaling is harmless and contains no toxic chemicals. It's almost all water vapor that has been sucked out of your body. That's why you get dehydrated as you vape. There is a very tiny amount of nicotine, but not enough to be harmful to anyone. In order for someone to get as much nicotine as is in one exhaled puff of a cigarette, you would have to have about 17 vapers all breathing straight into their mouths at the same time. That is my calculation from data contained in the following links.
