SD Keyring meltdown - literally

Ordered two of the SD keyring kits.

Charged up the first, slapped on a fresh shorty 1.7, filled it with my fave liquid, and was thrilled with the performance.

While trying out the first SD, i let the second batt charge. And then smelled burning. Closer inspection revealed a melting USB charger. Both the SD battery & charger were extremely hot to the touch. I tried a carto on the battery hoping it was just a faulty charger... nada. Dead battery.

Keep in mind this was a brand new charger & battery. Simply pulled out of the packaging and charged up within 15 minutes of USPS dropping it off. No carto had been attached prior to charging of the 2nd SD kit.

I haven't heard of this happening before. Hopefully I'm the only one.

I'm just glad I noticed it right away.

The first SD keyring battery is working great still. No issues.

Bummed I got a dud but I've got emails & PMs to Bruce.

Ditto, they tell you not to leave charging stuff unattended.... I'm guilty, but I've been lucky, so far...

I created a charging station for my pv's...everything is connected to a power strip...so every time I leave or when I go to bed I just switch the button off...much easier for me...
