Hello,

I'm looking into different kinds of e-cigarettes, and I'm seeing different information about sealed vs unsealed automatic cigarettes. Some brands say they have sealed automatics, but the company that makes the brand I use insists an automatic ecigarette cannot be sealed, so I'm a bit confused. Can anyone explain fully the difference?

Thank you!

On a non-sealed battery the juice can leak out into the battery, which will ruin it. Sealed you don't have to worry about it. Either way I would recommend a manual battery as you get better vapor out of them. Auto require you to start sucking before they activate, With a manual you'll hit the button, then start taking your draw, so you get a bigger draw off them.

Smokeless Image sell sealed automatics - I have a couple. They are very juice resistant - my old unsealed batteries would be dead by now with some of drip errors I've made. The sealed ones are drip resistant - I just wipe them and vape on.
No battery is going to be competely liquid proof - which is why I try not to drop them in my coffee. :D

ETA: I think bloog may also do sealed autos now.

Sure you can use sealed autos with home made carto atties - funny because I just posted about that earlier. hmmm....
Dont drip into a carto while it's screwed onto an auto. Doing that asking for trouble. But dripping and then waiting a few seconds to make sure you haven't flooded - then screw the carto onto the battery. I've never had a problem with it. Pays not to be heavy handed when dripping.

Auto batteries cannot be sealed. Where would the airflow come from to activate them?

SI's are sealed across the top. So they are drip resistant. Check out the top of the post - it's sealed. They are the same as the manuals from what I can see from mine. I have both.

Ok - first here's a vid:

Apparently SI were the first with the sealed auto technology. I'm not saying they are completely liquid proof - but they are sealed/drip resistant. In the same way I wouldn't fill a carto on top of an auto, I wouldn't drip on top of an auto. Just common sense to do that off the battery and then attach it when you know it's ok.

They have a couple of small airholes on the sides of the post. But not in the middle like unsealed. Which is why you don't fill/drip a carto when screwed on, but once you fill/drip and know you have no leaks then it's fine.
