thanks in advance

If it is a manual battery, meaning it has a button on the side to turn it on, it should be sealed.

Automatic batteries, ones that activate by simply inhaling on the pv are unsealed as they need an opening for the air to pass thru to activate the sensor/circuit to make the coil heat up.

Different folks use different ways of filling cartos, try the way you described first, next time try the other ways. Personally I use the condom method but I go through the mouthpiece end, many prefer the battery end. Somepeople drip into it from either end. Experiment and find what works for you.

I mix flavors too, not DIY but pre-made juices for flavor combos, again experiment. Some juices are great 50/50 mix, some others need different ratios so that one flavor doesn't overpower the other.
something else I do is I also add a few drops of VG (bought from wal-mart) to help with vapor production. Not alot, just 4-6 drops in the 3ml bottle I use for mixing and carrying around my little flavor combos.

Good luck, let us know how it works out.

No, you still use the atomizer. You can get drip tips or use an empty cart top. Just drip about three drops of liquid on the atomizer, let it sit a few seconds and vape away. You get more vapor without the cart filling aspect. You should generally be able to get about an analogue's worth of vapor per 3-4 drops.

If you do a search on "dripping" or check out DonDaBoomVape's e-cig series, you can find more detailed info.

Here's what I do, it works for me but everyone has their own way.

When I open a new atty, I rinse /clean it to get the primer fluid off so there is no nasty taste.

Then I drip 3 drops on the atty and vape. I drip the juice right onto the mesh that sticks up, the portion that the filler from your carts touches. Will take a day or two, or even three, but you will get to the point that you start figuring out when vapor production and flavor start to slack off. Thats when you drip again.

After the first couple of times of use, I will drip only 2 drops. Thats me, might mean I drip a little more often than others but it keeps me from flooding the atty.

If you hear the atty gurgling when you hit it, and there is barely any if no vapor at all, it is flooded. No biggie, happens to everyone. Remove atty, place battery end in a tissue, blow thru mouthpiece. This "blows" the excess juice into the tissue. Blow 2-3 times, put back on battery and vape.

Side note: I'm a cheap ....... so I don't like wasting a whole tissue on blowing out an atty, I use one square of TP from the bathroom, lol.

After vaping like this for a week or two, I get bored (read that ....) and go to the "bridge-less" method of dripping. I use good tweezers and remove the mesh on that hump inside the atty. Sometimes I just form the mesh into a mushroom shape to where I can see the bare metal of the bridge, depends on my mood, but eventuall I get all the mesh out.
At this point the juice gets directly on the heating coil. Does no damage and will still work fine. When the mesh is totally removed I will only drip one drop at a time.

All of this makes for an enjoyable vape for me, but, and this is important, this is for when I am at home relaxing and vaping. DO NOT drip and drive, it is dangerous. Yes I did it for a good while, yes it was a big pain.
I would have to wait for a stoplight or a stop sign when no one was behind me, even pulled off the road so I could dip safely and be sure it got IN the atty instead of my lap.
Use cartomizers for travelling/out of home adventures.
