I started with XHaleO2 about a year ago - picked it up at 7-11. Absolute, total junk - went back to analogs a few days later. Seriously, do not buy anything XHaleO2 has to offer. Out of all the mistakes in kits I've made, this one wins the grand prize for junk.
Skip forward 1.5 years. Now a father to a 5 month old, totally awesome baby boy. Tried to quit the day he was born - lasted two days. Last month I set a goal to permanently switch to electronic. Unfortunately for me, I really don't see a time in my life without smoking - be it vapor or smoke. I freakin' love to smoke. I can see a 0 nicotine day somewhere in the future, but never a day without vapor. What a boring life it would be
I did some some quick research, trusted some online review sites and decided to purchase blu and geensmoke starter kits. I figured between the two, one had to be a champ.
greensmoke has really nasty tasting, way overpriced cartos. blu just doesn't pack a punch, you constantly have to charge the tiny batteries, and most of the flavors are too sweet or too rich (felt nauseous, sometimes); however, between the two, I was able to cut-down to one analog cig per day - trust me, this was a tiny miracle.
I did have to chain-vape to feel partially satisfied. Coming from ultra-light analogs, 1-2 packs per day, neither brand got the job done. If you're a heavier smoker, I think it'd be extremely difficult to switch to electronic using either brand. Bottom line, they're not worth the purchase.
My next kit was a Joye 510-t - thanks to this forum. tanks do leak - all of them - very annoying - switching to a carto. But, I didn't do enough research, and after a weekend with these, although much better than blu and greensmoke, I decided to purchase a Joye eGo MEGA (650mah). You can do the math - I've obviously wasted quite a few bucks not having done proper research. Nonetheless, I'm set on my goal.
So, now it's my second day with Joye eGo. I finally get the complete feeling I've been looking for. There are a few downsides already with the stock kit. I wouldn't say tons of vapor (not consistently, at least - more consistent with the 510-t), but I'm still adjusting to the manual switch. Flavor seems muted compared to the 510-t and there's a faint plastic taste with each draw. The sample liquids I ordered (60/40 mix) may not have a lot a flavor to begin with, so this could be part of the problem, but more samples are on the way.
I did have to burn away excess on each new atty. Before doing this, vapor production was low and each draw had a burnt taste to it. The ego is the first kit to actually make me cough. The 510-t was close.
Like many, I originally wanted the slim size for portability and familiarity. To be quite honest, the 650mah size is perfectly fine. It's not an inconvenience whatsoever. The long lasting battery life is terrific. Again, the manual switch is a change, but minor compared to the overall experience. It does tend to get stuck every now and then.
I've been disappointed by all of these starter kits, in one way or another. For the Joye kits (510-t and ego), it sucks that you apparently have to upgrade components immediately. After the 510-t experience, I ordered a range of different atty/carto's at the same time I purchased the eGo kit. I like to tinker, so I can't complain too much. Still, after all this wasted money, a turnkey solution would have really been nice. Maybe the Riva is just that kit. Dunno - but I decided to stick to Joye products now knowing that they have a good rep and warranty.
Morale of this story: don't waste time with the slim sizes. Just don't do it. Seriously, don't
eGo size or equivalent with manual switch. I now have a good starting place to experiment and to find the combination that works well for me.
