Yahoo story about a recent "study." Of course Mr. Glantz is the one who says "vapor penetrates paint" and is copiously quoted in the article.

Actual study text:

So does water.

As for the ultra-fine particles. There's a substantial difference between solid particles (as in combustion byproducts) and liquid droplets. Calling droplets "particles" is disingenous at best. A mechanical engineer like Mr. Glantz should have known that.

IIRC, RTI got govt. funding to do the 'research'.. and no surprise, is laying the groundwork to get even more:

Further study is needed to determine which device engineering characteristics and liquid compositions might reduce or minimize potential secondhand exposures from e-cigarette use.

I refuse to add clicks to anti-vaping stuff... I don't want to give them more power or visibility BUT.... for those who read the articles, does that mean that cigarette smoke does not penetrate paint? How about sweat and steak smoke? Cat pee, perhaps? Should I avoid touching my walls altogether??? And, if vape does penetrate paint, does it not mean it could clean out the tar from my lungs faster? Does chlorine not remove cells from our esophagus and kill bacteria in our guts? If none of these answers are in the research, then they need to do more research before publishing, period.

The most idiotic statements in the paper were made by Stanton Glantz, Ph.D, "professor of medicine at University of California, San Francisco and director of the UCSF Center for Tobacco Control Research and Education".

The guy has no idea about difference in between solid and liquid particles and he tries to frighten people by particles “penetrating blood vessels” – liquid particles are dissolved in contact with wet surface of lungs. What an idiot! (Beware professors-idiots, their opinions much more harmful for general public). You may want to send him emails explaining his mistake. I am sure he will be happy.

Did it really say he was a professor of medicine? I thought he was an engineer or something like that.
