We've reverted to Apache server from Nginx, for the forum webserver, and so things should be back to normal - if not now, then very soon.

Please look for glitches and report them here. Thank you.

well, auto refresh going back is not working - will check f5


and using f5 just now shows my post from above in the reply box even though it has been posted already

I don't see any difference this morning from last night. The down arrow still takes me to the first post and then to the first post of the last page. I've logged out and back in and cleared history & cache. Maybe it's still too soon.

go to your ''last post'' via the first-page detour then click on ''view first unread'' that seems to be working most of the time

Same here! I see no improvement. It's the same frustration. I guess the good news is major changes were made and it's no worse.

I'm not sure I understand Tibs. I only see "view first unread" when I click on the last page of a subscribed thread. This is still working for me.

your trick had stopped working for me and i'd found the above solution as long as it still works for you you don't need my solution

usually, first unread and last post are not all that far apart

What could be happening is that script changes made to try and fix the problems with Nginx are still in place now we are on a different server app, Apache.

Our techies will sort it out sooner or later. We now know that the forum can get back to how it was, although it may take a day or two.

Good to know. I'm glad my way still works. It only involves 1 extra click. I've gotten so use to doing it this way that when the down arrow gets fixed I'll probably forget to use it.

There is a simple and effective workaround for the "Go to first new post" issue as posted by Burnie in the other thread...

It is a PITA a little, but there is a work around.

When going to a new post first it pulls up this
536108-go-first-new-post-not-working-gotonew.html

Then currently it redirects to this, which is missing the page number the post is on.
536108-go-first-new-post-not-working.html#post12498593

At this point I right click and copy the link before the next redirect, which takes you to the top of the page with the post, which is this showthread.php?p=12498593

Then I paste the 536108-go-first-new-post-not-working.html#post12498593 and add the page number
536108-go-first-new-post-not-working-5.html#post12498593

Then click enter, takes you to the last post, Yes I Know, PITA, but it works until they get it fixed.

BTW, only takes a few seconds once you get used to doing it. Just a Thought to get you by.

It's not hard at all, seriously.

It takes one copy...
One paste...
And then quick edit...

Takes much less time than scrolling through posts and trying to remember what you already read and where you left off...

I'd be happy to get onboard if I understood what you're doing, which I don't yet.

Either way, there is an easy workaround that people are ignoring.
Not my problem though, as I'm moving along just fine.

yup - and that was working fine on both types of servers

Not confirmed, but from what I do know from previous discussions, the auto-refresh when going back eats up a lot of the server. Knowing this, I think they turned it off recently in an attempt to speed up the forum.

Like Roly said though, hopefully it will all be sorted in the next day or so and back to it's "normal" operation.

(We can hope, right!! )

i figured that, sonic, because the speed is fairly decent

but having your post pop up in the reply box when you hit f5 as if you never posted yet is really annoying
