I’ve been doing it for years and he’s over 10 now so not too worried. Never heard that before I’ve heard of dogs Mabye getting the runs if they drink a lot and mine will get dehydrated but he’s usually fine once given a big bowl of water.
That's not exactly accurate, when you have a dog at the beach for hours they get hot and thirsty. Even if you have water for them they are a dog, they don't think hey I'm thirsty so I think I will stop playing and go get a drink when they are in water.Only a dog too dumb to live would drink enough salt water to die.
I agree with that, it's not something that happens a lot. But to the few it happens it's surely terrible.Maybe so, but I'd still bet a fairly large sum that cases of fatal saltwater ingestion among dogs are few and far between.
I see it all the time where dogs swim at the beach and have never heard anything like it could be fatal before . The lakes around here get this blue green algae you have to be careful of even walking your dog around the path of the lake could be harmful when it’s in bloom. You never really know when it could come even if signs arnt up it could be lurking and just starting up So it seems to me the ocean is the safer optionMaybe so, but I'd still bet a fairly large sum that cases of fatal saltwater ingestion among dogs are few and far between.
Yes I’m sure there lots of stuff In the ocean that is harmful as well. Just don’t hear about it around here I’ve never heard on the news not to bring your dog to the ocean. Just like anything in life there are risks. Hell nowadays you take a risk walking around the neighbor hood with the dog. People use poison In there gardens people drive drunk and/or stoned and could run us over. We could get robbed or get into a scrap with some homeless folk all strung out that they have in our parks spread around because they don’t want them right downtown on one street anymore because of covid. There are harmful red algae blooms in the ocean also.
Thanks for looking out for my boy. Mabye I should be scared but My life’s been one horror story after another or like a swirling toilet full of poop could be another analogy ha. I just want to take it easy from here on out with my buns and pup. Toby likes going to the beach and I want to do things that make him happy to make up for the years I lost without avoiding things and worrying about what could go wrong. The red algae happens more on the east coast, west coast has colder seas which helps prevent it.
I was just putting it out there because I love animals and I hadn't heard about it either until I read a story of it happening.
so sorry to hear this F1vefour. Rough time and glad you are here.Sure, nothing wrong with doing things with your animal that they enjoy. If there was a good dog beach here I would take my girl Bella, I would just keep an eye on her because I lost my 10 year old Chihuahua and my 21 year old son two months apart... both from cancer.
So I'm a bit of a worrier, especially now.
Jeez I bet you do. Understandable.Sure, nothing wrong with doing things with your animal that they enjoy. Oh man, my mom is worries enough for three or four people. I'm always telling her to let things go but she can't seem to do that, I'm super thankful she's still around though.Jeez I bet you do. Understandable.
I do worry too I guess I mean for instance I worry my bunny storm will get hit by a car being a free roam bunny at my work and all. But my mom seems to do enough of the worrying for the both of us and then some
