I was noticing on the classified section that people list CONUS only (Continental US or lower 48 states or what have you). Living in Hawaii I get that alot trying to order stuff on line. Just chiming in that in the classifieds that most people would be shipping via USPS. Just FYI that Hawaii and Alaska lands under the rules of domestic shipping not international so the cost of shipping is the same as "CONUS" unless it is an over sized item, which classified sales are usually not. Higher shipping cost would occur when using an outside parcel service such as UPS or Fedex or any overnight shipping, which classified sales, again, are usually not. I used to tend to shy away from anything that said CONUS (knowing better just contact the seller and hash things out). I would have to say that if you do not intend to ship UPS or Fedex don't list CONUS. It would deter people like us Hawaiian or Alaskan Americans or just pain old newbies from these posts to help you sell your stuff. .

People that won't ship to HI or AK are stupid. That's all there is to it.

I deal with shipping all over the world for my work and can't figure out why people discriminate against those places. It's no different than shipping anywhere else in the US.

I've spent a lot of time* in line at the post office dealing with international shipments (for first class only, all others can be done online) and have found that most people are complete idiots when it comes to shipping stuff. I've had the people that work at the post office ask me to explain stuff to the dumbasses that can't comprehend how shipping works before (yes, I am that much of a badass, lol). I wonder how some people can manage to make it through a day sometimes.

*been doing this for 5+ years

Yep, shipping to Hawaii is exactly the same price as the "mainland". In fact, you'll probably get a package faster since everything is by air. I lived in Hawaii for 25 years and can remember hearing tourists saying "wait till we get back to the United States...". HELLO?? 50th State. Remember? LOL

(And NO, we did not all live in Grass Huts) :)
