With a 510-510 adapter, they will fit over the 510 atomizer, but they won't catch any excess e-liquid if you over-squonk. That will still go into the reservoir. The adapter is just to add a little length to accommodate the drip shield.

Well, if you use a 510-901 adapter and a 901 atomizer, the drip shield will catch any leaky juice and allow it to be sucked back into the atomizer, because the air intake hole is on the tube near the bottom of the atomizer. With 510 atomizers, the air intake holes are just above the threads on the atty, and the drip shield only hugs the tube.
