I think the theory behind the shorter wick is the juice has less resistance to get to the atty but it needs to be wet around the coil anyway. Some like it short and some long.

I've tried it both ways and can't tell a difference but I tilt it and make sure it's wet up around the coil before I vape. Got into the habit of that with my CE2s and never get a dry hit.

This is from a Similar Thread....

I think if a person Looks at what a Wick is supposed to do that the Long verses Short wick Looses some of its Importance It becomes More how a person vapes that is Important.

The purpose of a Wick is Supply e-Liquid to the Area of the Coil Wire. And a Fully Saturated Wick yields the Best Hit.

Look at a Bottom Coil Type Carto. If the PV is pointed Down while vaping, the e-Liquid due to gravity will Pool around the area where the Coil is Located. The wick is Fully Submerged and Saturated in the area of the Coil. In this Case, Long Wick/Short Wick Doesn't Matter.

Now look at a Top Coil Type Carto. If the PV is pointed Down while vaping, the e-Liquid due to gravity is Not Pooled around the area where the Coil is Located. The e-Liquid needs to limb the Wick via Capillary Actions. The amount of e-Liquid that makes it to the Coil can Vary Greatly due to the Viscosity of the e-Liquid and Porosity of the Wick Material. And of Course, if the wick is too Short, No e-Liquid can climb the Wick if the Level of the e-Liquid is Lower than the Length of the Wick.

But if the PV is Point Up when using a Top Coil Carto, then the e-Liquid Pools around the Coil Area. And All the Benefits of a Bottom Coil Carto Vaped Battery Down are Achieved.

So the Long Wick / Short Wick choice to me is Meaningless. Because for whatever Carto design I choose, I am going to adjust me Vaping style to make the e-Liquid pool at the Area of the Coil. If this is done, It doesn't Matter if you have a Long Wick or a Short wick.
