Well, What is your resistance? Have you put the Projectile on an ohmmeter or done any testing with a DMM? What battery are you using and where is the V at for charge? If we know what proper mech trouble shooting you have already done and all of the specifics it will help narrow down the problem so we can advise you better :)

What other things causes short apart from the atty? My mod is turtleship clone and my atty is projectile. The heat seem to be traveling from the top of the mod down to its bottom (i can feel it). No wires seems to cause the short in my atty build. Thanks

What you describe really doesn't sound abnormal to me. If your main concern is the device getting hot, in the way that you describe (from the atty and traveling down), that sounds normal. This is especially true with a resistance below 1ohm. The atty can get hot and will usually travel down to the device, depending on what material your device is made of.

If it is getting really hot I would recommend screwing off your atty slightly so there is a slight gap in between the bottom of the atty and your device as this will result in less heat transfer to your device. You should always occasionally check your actual battery and make sure that it is not getting hot, and if it is, put it to the side for a bit and cycle out other batteries you have. Also, your hand may be making the device hot as well. Try holding your device with just your fingers and not your whole palm and that may help a little.

The fire button is not hot yet. But the heat seems to be traveling from the top part of the mod down. If say, the battery is below its advisable discharge rate of 3v, will that cause the heating of the mod?

See post from Cave - if you are only feeling warmth travel in the correct path (not HOT, warm is normal, HOT is bad) with no hot button or battery then it is very normal with a subohm build.

I have never discharged a battery below 3.5 so I have no idea - but my guess is it would not really generate heat - it would have an extremely weak fizzle of a vape until it just stopped. I am only guessing, but based on logic and lacking performance as it nears the 3.5 mark - probably at least in the ballpark.

Yep ive tried making that gap. Still the mod gets hot. You can feel it as you press the fire button. My atty is foodgrade 304 ss (not sure bout the number). My mod is ss but a clone. My first few tries didnt have this problem despite 3 to 7 sec press, thats why i purchased the mod today

It is possible the insulator at the 510 is split letting it short when fired.

Probably. Thanks to all the response. Im still charging my 30amp batt. Ill try it again later with the same atty and another atty to see what really causes this. Ill nap for now

I think you may be feeling the current passing through the mod. To my understanding, this is normal as well. I have felt it before and it feels as if a hot spot suddenly appears on your device and disappears within seconds. I have heard that cleaning all your contacts and cleaning the inside of the mod tube (drying thoroughly after) can help fix this problem. If that is what you are feeling I would give that a try as well, even if the device is new. To be honest I am not sure how true this is, but some experienced mod users told me about this when I explained the hot spots I was feeling if I held the mod really tight while firing a sub-ohm build (around 0.3ohms).
