Last night, shorted the battery using my kayfun and nzonic clone. Took apart the kayfun, noticed a horrible smell. Soaked it in vodka over night, and clean it with dish soap 5 times. That horrid smell is now lingering as a taste in my juice. More pronounced when used on my legend at 15 watts. Any ideas what do to? I've full disassembled the kayfun down to the insulators, all were scrubbed and soaked in vodka. You can sell it on the base right where the coil is screwed on to. Even replaced the screws as they had the smell as well.

I've never experienced that smell after a short, but then my nose has been abused by 37 years of smoking. A burnt smell I imagine? Perhaps a soak in Oxi-Clean overnight? That won't hurt the metal parts, but I don't know about the plastic insulator. And of course a good clean to get rid of it before you put it back together.

Yeah you could say burnt smell/taste. Hard to explain, I guess who you would expect burnt metal to smell like haha.

Well, metal doesn't burn. It would be the residue or coating left behind from the short frying juice or plastic. It will clean off, there is no way it can penetrate solid metal. Even if you fried the exposed edge of the plastic insulator under the positive block it should pretty much scrub off that too. If it doesn't completely, I would take it out and use 320 sandpaper on those edges. Physically remove a small amount of the surface and the smell will be gone if it was there.
